Looks like the Bed Rug is a popular choice, I got one too.
I have a set of 4 "stops" that have a Velcro like surface that will cling to the Bed Rug to hold things in place (see picture).
If anyone is interested I'll look up where I got them.

🤓 I just wish I had the money for the full bed one at the time.

How do you know nothing gets in there? It's like the refrigerator light, how do you know it goes off when the door is closed?😜 Plus I don't want to have carpet to clean in the bed. Spray in liner works for me. When I wash the truck I open the tail gate and the doors and clean those areas also.
:ROFLMAO: You wash the inside of your truck.😵💫 I saw a video of a blonde doing that once.
Sorry to all you blondes, nothing meant.

No way would I cover that gap or use a bed rug or tailgate hole cover. I want rain water to drain and air to freely flow and dry that area out. I'm not in Wyoming. It's humid here in the VA's. One rain storm and that thing is gonna be majorly soaked. I use a leaf blower and occasionally a hose. I'm washing every 2-3 weeks with a power sprayer.

I remember now that they came with the 2022 VW GTI. When I traded it in I kept the blocks.
They are very handy for keeping things from sliding around.

You can find them on Amazon, search for:

Nice thing about the bed rug is that it can be completely removed from the Velcro attachments in less than two minutes. Access to the tail gate gap in 30 seconds.
I would not advise installing a bed rug unless you have a toneau cover to keep it dry during the rainy season.

My rules are completely different when you have a garage, lol. You're staying a lot dryer on average. I want the rug, but not parked outside. That's an awesome Lobo and driveway + garage, btw. I'm parked outside in the sun and monsoon rains here, hence the white.

I called Ford after waiting a year and said I wanted to switch to a Blue AWD. They said pound sand haha!

I too am in VA but I plugged that hole after digging mulch that fell out of the bag out of it. I use a leaf blower also to clean out the bed and that was when the loose piece went into the hole. The wiring hole is not designed for drainage but it assists I guess. I don't want organic material getting in there and rotting promoting corrosion.
I call it the "tailgate humid air vent hole". So yeah, cover it while you're working. Keep it uninstalled if you're not, that's my take.

I purchased a bed rug from Real Truck that bridges the gap between the bed and tailgate. The bed rug has ridges in it to go between the grooves in the bed, making cargo much more stable than putting in directly on the bed w/o the bed rug.

I like the idea of the bed rug. I have the factory SIBL but it is slippery. Things always slide around to easy. Does the rug help prevent things from sliding in the bed?

I also have the factory SIBL. It does help things keep in place.

The Bed Rug is not as "slippery" as the painted bed. I use the CARGO ORGANIZER BLOCKS from Amazon. They have a Velcro like surface that allows them to stay put on the rug.
