Has anyone used a strip to cover the gap from the tailgate to the bed? I see some generic strips on Amazon but was looking for someone who had direct experience.

Getting stoked. My Ruby Red Lariat w/ blackout AWD hybrid went into production a couple of days ago...

I had a tailgate gap cover on my 22 (son and DIL have that truck now) it worked well but I haven’t put one on the 25, had to replace the 3m tape on it once, after two years. I think due to the spray in bed liner, only small area came loose. Still debating if I want to put one on the 25. Mine was a $20 one from evilbay.

See your profile pic. My dad just got an eruption green Mav last month! Rey sharp.

I purchased a bed rug from Real Truck that bridges the gap between the bed and tailgate. The bed rug has ridges in it to go between the grooves in the bed, making cargo much more stable than putting in directly on the bed w/o the bed rug.

🤓 I use a bedrug cover, makes it easy on the knees also.

Looks like the Bed Rug is a popular choice, I got one too.
I have a set of 4 "stops" that have a Velcro like surface that will cling to the Bed Rug to hold things in place (see picture).
If anyone is interested I'll look up where I got them.

I purchased the plastic insert, can't recall from which of multiple vendors. But you can save $$ and make a "redneck" cover using duct tape or similar tape and get the same results.

Speaking of gaps, a concern with the first gen Mav was the gap between the floor of the bed and the sides. I could see through to the ground below the truck. I haven't heard mention of this recently. Does Ford now caulk that seam at the factory?

I had to purchase automotive-specific 3M seam caulk and fill the gap. The gap was collecting all types of pebbles and debris. For people with bed covers trying to keep cargo clean, the gap is a source for dust.

after seeing pictures of the bed rug, I think that’s what I’ll go with. Those stops that you have definitely are nice.. does the rug just lay in place or is it secured somehow to the bed and tailgate?

I am curious, not a smart alack reply, why are you crawling in the bed? I can reach over the sides to get anything in the front.
🤓 :ROFLMAO::unsure: Well, the biggest ( smallest) part of it is, I’m 5‘2“ tall.

The gap serves a purpose. I have never covered it because if I can't see what is in the gap I can;t remove what is in the gap. I have the factory spray in liner which hoses out really well and bought the Maxzina hole plug for the tail gate.

With the gap covered, it prevents having things (tools or what have you) fall between the bed and tail gate. The bed rug is held in place with Velcro which makes it easy to remove.

🤓 But if the gap is covered nothing gets in there. I also have one of those hole plug covers.
