A week or two after getting my Maverick, I noticed the Stone Deflector (the “flap” in front of the wheel) was missing. The Rocker Molding it mounts to, was broken with part of it missing, on the driver side rear. Dealer helped get parts and I installed them. Only explanation I could justify was that the damage was done in transport.

I noticed on MTC that I am not the only one with this story, I was curious how many others had this happen?

Those things are ridiculous. They are so low to the ground that mine already got scuffs from parking sport tire bumps or whatever they are called. Hate them. Gonna install a lift later on and I will be cutting them off.

Yep I'm waiting patiently for a leveling strut that is adjustable from 1" and up. I measured, only need 1" to level and I'm not buying pucks. No way, not ever. Fingers crossed, but doubtful. (flatout suspension makes some but they are pricey for just a strut and it's both front and rear).

Yeah. I’m a max out height kinda guy, so I will be installing the super lifts 2.5” with some 31s. Like the YouTube video below.

If you've never looked into why pucks are frowned upon, here is a basic explanation:

https://www.shocksurplus.com/blogs/...g-struts-vs-strut-spacers-pros-cons-and-risks

Max out height the safe way, with struts designed to go those limits and not act as the stop all for the entire suspension. Not a huge deal for daily driving on flat roads but I'd be worried about the CV angles as many others mention here too. 2.5" is the extreme limit and you also have to factor in the extra half inch or so the tires will add to it. I'd personally never go above 1.5" for this setup (tires included), and my previous Tacoma was the same way at 2" instead of the 3" limit some people do. Lots of threads with people reporting CV issues after pucks and removing them, and not just on MTC (but there are a couple here too).

Just food for thought! But, good luck either way. A much safer bet for what you are doing is what Flatout Suspension offers with the actual strut kits. Their GR Plus or GR40 kits.

Buy once cry once. They are serviceable too.

Well… you made me reconsider. I will be keeping stock with stock tire size. Thanks for the heads up and preventing me from making a risky mistake. Most of the time I have my daughter with me and I do not want to out her at risk. I have seen eibach leveling struts and I may go this route.

Do you happen to have the part number for the rocker panel?
