Sticking throttle on 04 Maverick

2004 Ford Maverick XLT
Hey, I own a 2004 Ford Maverick XLT.
Recently I've discovered that when you are gassing the car and then you suddenly stop at like a red light, the rpms get stuck at like 2500-3000 but my foot is off the gas, sometimes i just have to give it a small kick and it would go back to normal idle but sometimes it goes away on its own, is there a fix for this?

Get some cable lubricant,
And spray it down, all the linkages and inside the cables shield itself.
do not use wd40, as it will gum up over time.

Well now I get where the Maverick namesake came from. Didn't know the Escape was called the Maverick internationally.

Check the throttle body, could be that. This is a video on sticking throttle body, slightly different issue, but likely related:
