Hello.

I had a shop install a Stainless Works downpipe on my 2024 Maverick Tremor. Everything was good for a 100 miles or so, now it keeps popping a P0420 check engine code. My scanner says it’s a faulty catalytic converter. We tried an O2 sensor spacer, but that didn’t fix it.

Has anyone else ran into the same issue?

Stainless Works says “they’ve never seen that before”.

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you,
Cory

Silly question but you did install the defouler after the cat right? Seems like a silly question but I’ve seen people install it before the cat.

I don’t know what cat they use but I believe it’s an EPA approved cat. That being said, I’ve seen CEL pop up on dos pipes with the top of the line $700 EPA GESI cat and nothing on a regular high flow EPA cat. It could be the defouler is bad so that’s the first thing I’d replace.

O2 placement is also critical as in you don’t want it at a downward slope where the sensor can collect moisture and go bad.

Whatever it is, im sure they will take care of you.

Same issue with the stainless works downpipe. Took about a week to get the P0420 code. Did the defouler solve your issue? If so do you have a link for the one you went with? Thanks
