I have a remote starter (start-x) and a start/stop eliminator (4d tech) stacked on the gateway. They both work as intended.

The start/stop eliminator isn't what I'd call it, it operates as a device that remembers where you left the setting between drives. Kinda like every other button setting except start/stop from Ford.

Yes, I know the app is a remote starter. I don't trust Ford to keep it free and it fails too often. After a few months driving I've decided I don't like the moments start/stop activates when I don't want it, but I still want to use it on occasion unlike the Forscan mod disabling it. The truck remembers my brake hold, temp, wiper, light etc, etc. settings but not auto stop...now it does.

Interesting. So when you say gateway, are you referring to the WiFi hotspot? I doubt you can use the telematics modem that FordPass uses.

Wait, are you referring to the OBD2 connector? I have never heard that referred to as a 'gateway'.

If so... Plugging them both in is probably fine, the autostop eliminator I use is on the back side of the connector so it's not super obvious if a tech needs to plug in. If you have 2 things on the front side I'd just want to be sure that they're not putting torque/weight on the connector, zip tie them in place so that the zip tie carries their weight.

No, the communication gateway. Back side of the obd2 port.

The obd2 "connector" isn't just a scan tool or doodad connector. The front is the diagnostic port, the assembly is a module. The gateway module. These things plug into the back of the module directly into the trucks network.

We have the same type of device (if not the same brand or exact operation) I have 2 things stacked back there and both work. A Start/stop "eliminator" and a remote start.

To expand on the gateway module (and maybe poorly transcribing fordspeak) The truck has multiplexing communication. A CAN bus system. Lots of computers all talk on one network. The truck has 5 CANbus networks. None of the CAN networks talks to a scan tool directly. They all go to the gateway module. The gateway translates the data and puts it out on one of two different diagnostic networks. Those diag network outputs are what the obd2 connector is. On some cars its (the gateway) inside the cluster, or its own module under the dash. On the mav it is literally part of the "obd2 plug".

As I work as a tech careful when adding to the gateway module as I’ve seen whatever you’re plugging in fail and backfeed/lose communication to various modules and cause weird issues
