Second time this has happened-3 months apart so probably not a fob battery issue:

Parked car and locked with key fob. When I returned a few minutes later, key fob would not unlock car, and car wouldn't make any noise or flash no matter which button I pushed. Had to enter with regular key (which it didn't seem to accept the first time), then put regular key in ignition. After that, no problem with key fob...

Put maintainer on 12volt battery.

Did you get the alert on dash that you better turn key to On quickly or alarm would go off?

Locking with Fob arms the passive alert alarm - the above should have occurred.

These trucks use electronic actuators. If the battery voltage was slightly low, the first turn of the physical key might not have had enough "juice" to move the mechanism until you gave it a second try.

I did not get any message on the dashboard.
Interesting that it's actually electronic actuators that open the door. That makes sense why the door didn't open on the first try with the regular key.
I just have to say that despite this Minor issue, my Maverick has been awesome and generally free of any issues. I still love the truck and even my "not a real truck" cousin was impressed last weekend how much furniture I got in the bed (with the tailgate open) when we helped my aunt move ha ha

So the issue started with the fob lock then - it didn't actually arm the alarm.
Well - at least it really locked the doors.
But points out the glitch.
