Spare ignition key

When you buy a spare ignition key for a xlt where can you get the key cut.if i have to buy the key fob to get the key can ford order one already cut.yes,i want to be able to crank and drive truck with this spare key.

I just bought a new fob with key for our Explorer Limited and a local locksmith programmed the key fob and cut the key for cheaper than the dealerships quote.

I have a XLT I was curious. If something happened to the key on my fob (bent, broken etc..) if I had a spare key without the fob for my truck and the key fob still worked would the spare key start the truck?

Truck hasnt come yet but i always get two spare keys made as soon as possible when i get a new vehicle

Personally i would hope so because I don’t want to depend on no electronic part to start my truck.71 year old doesn't care for all this electronic mess but it is what it is‍

Check ACE Hardware. They didn't have it listed when I checked, but since I don't have my Maverick yet I also don't have e a key.

The have a machine that they stick your key in and it tells them what blank to use. I can't imagine that Ford doesn't use that same key for other vehicles throughout the years.

The Maverick key is similar to this don't know if ACE can cut something like that. don't care for the new style. I'm used to 35 years of traditional Ford keys. I remember when you had to use 2 keys 1 to unlock the door and 1 to start the vehicle

1. Insert programmed key 1 and turn to on position (right before start) for 3 to 10 seconds then turn off removing key 1
2. Wait 3 to 10 seconds after removing key 1 and insert programmed key 2 turning to on position, wait 3 to 10 second then turn off removing key 2.
3. Wait 3 to 10 seconds after removing key 2 and insert key to be programmed (after being cut) turning to on position and waiting 7 to 10 seconds, then turn off removing key. Now test your new key.

Has anyone found out if Ace will cut the Maverick's center cut key - or if there is a good place that will do it?

I still own two trucks where that is needed. 1996 Ranger with replacement ignition switch and an 81 VW Caddy. Going to replace them both with the Maverick should it ever show up.
