Is the 40sq ft frontal area restriction for just the trailer, or the amount of area exposed after accounting for the size of the truck?

I'm having a hard time finding any campers that are less than 40 sq ft, even smaller teardrops. Anyone have any recommendations for trailers based solely on the frontal area?

Frontal area is not true square feet of the front. It is the effective sq feet of the front. Ask your trailer dealer what it is. A frontal area of a piece of plywood is 32sqft because it looks like 32sqft to the wind. Tilt it and it becomes a different lower number

It's the trailer, you don't get to subtract the size of the truck.

That still doesn't explain the picture that Ford's website uses to advertise the Maverick's towing capacity. That airstream is definitely beyond 40 square feet frontal area.
