Can't argue that, my grown kids remember many of them, I remember starting the truck by pressing the lever on the floorboard

Yep! My 1950 GMC (Deluxe five window cab) had that same fancy start button! And three speed on the tree. Just think, bet you none of the modern day car thieves could steal it! Haha.

I had a Timex Sinclair computer with the optional 16K RAMPAC. Memory was a cassette recorder, and the monitor was an ordinary B&W TV. I later moved up to a Tandy HX-1000 with DUAL 3.5" floppy disk drives and a full 16 color CGA screen (640 x 480 pixels) and built-in DOS 3.11.

I did have Windows 3.1 on a computer at one time. Windows 98 SE was a solid system as I recall. Seemed like in those days, every other version of Windows was good, with the others being a dog or minor upgrade.

My first 2 stick shifts had 4 speed manuals, and my older brother had 2 cars with a 3 speed column mounted manual transmission.
Yes I remember the Sinclair. I had the TRS-80 color computer. Initially had a cassette recorder, then later added a 5.25 floppy that held 180K. A major upgrade for the time.

I had a '74 Nova that was also theft proof. Linkage on the automatic slipped so "R" was park, "N" was reverse, "D" was neutral and "L" was drive. Key was stuck in the ignition, but didn't matter. It wouldn't start in park, had to shift to "N" which was of course reverse. Never bothered to even lock the doors.

I don't know if this is inappropriate for the forum, but I wrote a book about growing up from 1970 -1980. I'd love to get feedback. Name of book is Heartwood Court and is available on Amazon. Read it if you like, no worries if you don't Here is a link: https://www.amazon.com/Heartwood-Court-listen-delicious-family-ebook/dp/B0CYW3L2F6/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2ARM36LXHRC27&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.iGezyfzZWTK2pSAM18cywAJwkItcp8_oeYu-oQAxgGbCoK1X5k6KwedyBGOxwM5VFgiSGIJSJfCQndP9EJyTYlgaoIpZHBLPqVwnJzIGWP8.6nj9JRYa1F04KtITRAV4iTwuoO1Q_Qa4VuxzVTFo7gE&dib_tag=se&keywords=craig+m+dial&qid=1725198139&sprefix=craig+m+dial,aps,264&sr=8-1

That is actually a great idea, all turned around like that. Patent that as a theft deterrent device and make a load of money! But then, the crooks would figure it out after a while. Bummer.
