The boxes mentioned sit on the bed of the truck and make it impossible to carry long objects or sheet goods. It is also difficult to access if you do not want to climb into the bed.
I have not found a way to carry a decent jack. The factory jack is pretty bad. I tried to use it to get unstuck. It only lifts the wheel a couple of inches off the ground and takes a long time to to crank it up. The truck has a lot of suspension travel. Maybe a bottle jack in the cubby would be a good idea.
The underside of my seat is reserved for a jump pack and some tow hooks for the two little holes that serve as tow points in the front of my XL. There is also a roll of climbers tubular strap webbing in there.
