What’s up everyone,

I’ve been going down the rabbit hole on seat swaps for my 2022 Maverick XL and I feel like there’s a ton of good info on here… but it’s scattered across 100 different threads.

So instead of digging through years of posts every time someone asks, I’m hoping we can use this thread to consolidate everything in one place — wiring, brackets, compatibility, heated seats, airbags, Forscan programming, etc.

What I’m Trying to Do

I’m 100% set on upgrading the seats. Just trying to decide which route makes the most sense:

Option 1 – OEM Higher Trim (Lariat / Tremor)
  • Heated seat functionality is a big plus
  • Plug-and-play? (Probably not that simple)
  • Airbag / occupancy sensor compatibility?
  • Do I need Forscan coding?
  • Is the body harness already partially there on XLs?
  • Anyone successfully added factory heated seat switches?

If anyone has done a Tremor or Lariat seat swap into an XL, please drop:
  • What seats you used
  • What trim you started with
  • What worked / what didn’t
  • What it cost
  • Wiring headaches

Option 2 – Aftermarket Bucket Seats

If I go aftermarket, I’d want a true bucket-style seat — something more supportive and sport-oriented.

Questions here
  • Are we using custom brackets or adapting factory rails?
  • How are you handling airbags?
  • Did you lose occupancy sensors or throw codes?
  • Has anyone retained heated functionality with aftermarket seats?
  • Brands that fit well without sitting too high?

I’m not building a race truck, but I’d like something more aggressive and supportive than the stock XL cloth seats.

Why I’m Making This Thread

I know this has been discussed a lot, but it feels like:

  • One thread talks about brackets
  • Another thread talks about airbags
  • Another thread mentions heated seats
  • Another one mentions Forscan

And it’s hard to find everything in one place.

My goal is to make this a one-stop seat swap resource.

If you’ve
  • Done it
  • Looked into it
  • Abandoned it
  • Or are planning it

Drop your info below.

Let’s build a proper guide out of this.

Only thing I did to my seats was swap out the factory foam for firm memory foam. Fronts only were $600 out the door. Took the shop maybe 5 hours. Very comfortable now!

I suppose it will work. I know a few years ago someone got power seats from a Focus ST working, so why not another Maverick?

I think the import thing to remember is that other than the factory seat covers, all the power seats are the same. I doubt any of them have different foam inside, just different adjustments.

Heat seats. One guy did it, but he had to get the correct unit that had the buttons.

Yea, I saw those seats just never a full break down or any issues which cam from/during install.

I have always wondered if the seats from the Bronco Sport or Escape are a direct swap?

You ever get this done? I was thinking of doing this to my XL trim but I never saw any good posts out there about it.

Nope, I was so close then decided that insurance sucks And the lack of a factory airbag will null anything I need from insurance

I would love to see a option for a power passenger seat seeing it's not available on the Maverick in any year or trim level regardless.
