RE: Can't understand why anyone is having problems with their dealer...." - Giving the full value or any value for the private offer price protection certificate IS AT THE DEALER'S DISCRETION. That is the point of my post. The $$$ from the offer goes to the dealer not the customer and the dealer can give all, part or none. As I wrote, I verified this with both Ford Customer Service and an honest dealer, Long McArthur Ford in KS. My dealer tried to screw me and I spent a lot of energy getting my additional $600 back.
I'm gonna call BS on private offer is at dealers discretion. The dealer not make the private offer Ford Motor Does. If a dealer told you this well someone got suckered.

Hi - As I wrote, I was in shock when my dealer pulled the stunt on the one yard line after 14 months of waiting. I called Ford Customer Service and the rep told me flat out the private offer $$$ go from Ford -->Dealer-->Customer. Dealers are franchises and in most states that gives the dealer control of the retail transaction. I called Long McArthur and Sara Davis confirmed the private offer $$ goes to the dealer. Doubt me if you will but I base what I wrote on doing as much research as a retail customer could. Same with work under warranty. Ford issues the warranty through the dealer. Dealer does the work and bills FoMoCo. In some situations the dealer must get authorization or they risk not being reimbursed for the full amount of a warranty claim. In my sales example, the selling dealer gets the full amount, $2500 in my case and after that it is their money, not yours or mine. Blows the mind but that is how franchises work.

Yes they can? You can't stack Military with other Ford offers like Farm Bureau or College Student, but you absolutely can use a private offer and a Ford offer together.

Available on the purchase or lease of any new and eligible 2022/2023/2024 Ford or Lincoln vehicle. ""May not be used with other Ford/Lincoln private offers.""Amounts may vary by market. Limit of 5 purchases or leases. U.S. residents only. The tax issue varies by state. In NY, rebates don't come off the price pre-tax. Tax is calculated on the sale price before the rebates are taken off.

There is an option to have Ford send the customer a check directly, or have Ford pay the dealer. That choice is up to the customer/dealer. In a state that doesn't tax rebates, it would obviously be more beneficial for the customer to have it payable to the dealer!
Yea I am in NY. My mav is about to hit lot. Trying to gauge the price and my PA dealer seems to think that they need to tax the private offer rebate again. Is that true? Doesn't seem right.

Tax in New York is calculated before rebates (and down payments) are taken off. Or, you can think of it as rebates being taxed.

That is how it works in NY (and many other states too I believe).

This rebate being a "model year transition private offer" doesn't change the fact that it is treated the same as any other rebate.

Yea that is what I thought but being an out of state dealer. It seems the tax rate they want me to pay is 9.69% vs 8.875% based on my residency. Not sure if they doing the overcharge to keep that $$ or NYS is.

For vehicles, the tax charged is based on customer address..... But for out of state sales, I think they'd usually not charge you any tax, and you'd owe the tax when you register @ DMV. But maybe being a border state, they do things differently (if they have a lot of NY customers)?? Still, the taxes should be based on your tax rate.

Its a nearby state so they doing registration for me. Got confirmation is the charge the title company came back with. Any overage will be given back. I have had that happen before for several vehicles bought out of state. Appreciate the help.

Private offer question, did anyone originally place a MY23 hybrid XL order then changed the MY23 to an EB because you weren’t going to get a Hybrid . Then ordered a XL hybrid for their MY24??

Should the private offer be $1k or $2.5k? My understanding is that it was based on the original MY23 order which mine was a XL hybrid that originally wanted.

The dealer is saying they have the discount loaded in as $1k, and have been less than knowledgeable throughout this whole process.

I’m pretty much done messing around with this, it’s sitting at the dealer now. I was fairly certain this was based on my original MY23 order placed on Sept. ā€˜22 which is not a secret that the orders were cut off after a few days so original MY23 order that Ford refers to is pretty obvious.

Did anyone do this and get the 2500 yet?

I placed 2 2023 hybrid orders in September 2022. I changed 1 to gas to increase the likelihood it would get filled. I picked up the 2024 gas today. Somehow I got a $4,250 rebate. $1,750 for 22 to 24, and $2,500 for 23 to 24.
