Morning all you Mav owners!
I have a Revolver X4S bed cover / top and it came with weather stripping. I followed the procedures to clean the surfaces before applying the weather stripping in the two channels behind the rear window. Today after a car wash, I noticed both sides popping up…

get rid of them and let it be?
Try to re-do it with new weatherstripping?
Maybe a black exterior grade RTV?
Something else?

See pics and thanks for your feedback!

The stock glue from aftermarket add-ons is average at best. I usually put on some additional glue of my own to ensure it will stay. I did this to my wife's car because of the car wash she goes to was constantly removing the black inserts off the roof of her Toyota Yaris. A little dab of super glue or gorilla glue and the problem is gone.

I squeezed black RTV under the bed cover rails 18 moths ago. You can't see it and no leeks.

I must have stretched the bulkhead seal a litle to much and ended up with a little seepage in each corner. You could see paint between the end of the seal and the bed rail. I filled those gaps with RTV and the leaks stopped.

I was wondering what those 2 rolls of weatherstripping were for. Was included in the X4ts, but didn't show where to put them in the install instructions. Did you have to add it anywhere else?

Could always try cleaning again with iso alcohol again and seeing if it sticks.

If my memory is correct (getting super old) - I used a large or wide portion of weather strip between the cab & the bed, directly applied to the edge. Since the cover rests on that edge, I don't anticipate a problem.

Yup, I got that installed. My revolver x4ts also came with 2 rolls of thinner weather stripping. No info anywhere on what it was for. It does look like what's in the original posts image that's peeling though.

Yes sir - that's right. I used the smaller weather strip for those channels. It was either in the instructions or there was a published video on YouTube by the manufacturer on sealing all of the areas where water could get in.

I realize there's no way to make the inside 100% waterproof, especially after a car wash. So I don't keep anything that can't withstand exposure to water in the bed. I usually keep a tool bag in the bed and pull it out prior to a car wash. It does stay dry in light rains without any issues.

I bought an aftermarket adhesive & applicator for the thicker seal behind the rear window which was showcased on an installation video. I may do the same thing for these small channels.

im doing this tomorrow, for a while I couldn’t tell where the leak was coming from but found it today after doing a little water test on it with the cover off. Will probably still have a little leakage around the tailgate but I can live with that

The tailgate area is the spot where I have water coming into the bed and only after a carwash where it's shooting water into the bed area under pressure. The amount of water that does make its way into the truck isn't a big deal and I can live with that too.

if I can keep the part closest to the cab dry that’s all I’m worried about, trips to the beach/mountains with light luggage is more my concern, with the biggest concern of course, my golf clubs lol. Hopefully the sealant will keep er 99 percent dry.
