Replacing broken brake light cover

TIA! Anyone have to replace a brake light cover yet? Can you confirm if the clear plastic could be replaced on its own? Approximately how much the cost was for you own?

I made the careless mistake of trying to yank my recycling bin over the curb too close to my truck & the corner perfectly struck the passenger side brake light & knocked out the clear plastic. I felt up the driver side to try to figure out if just that piece can be replace or if it would be the whole unit & my research seems to indicate the latter.

Light was not damaged & I covered with some weatherproof clear tape so no debris or moisture can get in for now.

The tail light? It's $240-340 on eBay brand new from Ford dealers.

Is the lens damaged? Very surprised it just got knocked off. If the lens is ok you can just reseal the lens to the housing with some butyl rubber. Make sure to scrape any old residue off first.

Sadly, it was knocked out in pieces. I did consider putting them all back together to seal it up but figured the tape was a better option. That's good to know though!

Sounds like you will be in the market for a new set as no one makes replacement lenses. If you are feeling bold and would like to attempt to put humpty dumpty back together again I will suggest to use this adhesive with a hypodermic needle to apply the glue to the edges, its like water. Put the pieces together and then just apply the glue on the seam. The capillary action will pull the glue into the joint. Hold for 3-5 minutes and it will be bonded back together. 12-24 hours full cure.

You can also use Plexus MA685. Its more of a gel so it will fill some gaps.

Might want to check with a wrecking yard. Several Mavericks have been reported as totaled on this forum.
