Hi all, so Canadian Mavericks are obligated to have rear DRL's as well unlike the USA. So when the vehicle is in gear, the tail lights are illuminated in low light and switching to high when braking or signalling.
Lariat and BAP have the LED Signature Tail lights which operate identically in Canada and the USA.

What I am seeking to do is not have the tail lights operating in low setting at all, like american vehicles, as the LED Signature tails already satisfy the Canadian rear DRL Law.
Our Bronco Sport operates like this, led signature tail (outer ring) is the DRL with the brake light only coming on with braking and the turn signal is a different bulb as well.

There has to be something in Forscan that would change this. I already tried in the BCM setting for right and left rear stop lamp operation toggling the turn and brake to position, turn and brake and no change in operation was observed.

Any insight? I am thinking this might have to be dug into via the asbuilt bdycm module comparing notes with a comparable american build.

Thanks

Why would not not want your tail lights to come on when it is dark? Also in Canada, don't see the problem.

they are always on in "Position mode", day or night as soon as the truck is in gear. Thats the DRL aspect of the tail light.
In the USA "Position mode" only comes on when the tail lights turn on when dark.

The LED signature is also always on as DRL and want to leave those as is. Its the main brake and signal lights I want to disable "position mode" as they aren't needed because of the LED signature.
So there is no safety issue here.

here's an example. the 2015 F150 had the led signature tails that were only the outer ring illuminated in position mode, whereas then the brake light would illuminate for braking and signalling.
I want to get the maverick to do the same thing.

20156-2022 F150 Signature LED tails

Mechanically it could be done, which is what I might lean to in the short term.

There is a way. Super simple. You just have to cut a pin off the two brake lights on each side. It will look like the F-150 you referenced above. I plan on doing this as well.

Aaaand yes, this is exactly what I am looking to do. This is the mechanical way.
I am seeking a way to do it through Forscan, but if its not possible, then cut/block the pins is the way to go.

I don't get it. More tail lighting is better to alert the idiot behind you, its that simple. Incandescent bulb life is exponentially related to their current draw, while the Lariat LEDs life is essentially unlimited. Non-Lariat DRLs use lower power, so the bulb will also essentially never burn out in that mode.
Worst of all, dropping a mandated safety feature means that not only will your insurance be null and void when you get rear-ended, but will also get a ticket for your efforts and may even be required to pull the plates off.

This is the issue. When headlights are off in the daytime and the DRL's are on for the Lariat (the front white signature lighting, the rear led signature lighting , and 4 bulbs are in on low power mode) I want the 4 tail light bulbs off. The rear led signature lights is enough to satisfy Canadian Law regarding rear DRL as the Bronco Sport does it this way already in Canada.
HOWEVER when headlights are on, the lighting is exactly the same way with addition of the headlights, and I want the 4 tailight bulbs to remain on in this mode. This is why simply cutting the wire leads on the bulbs isn't ideal to me.

When I was in the USA recently I saw another BAP maverick and it was daylight and it did seem like the rear taillights had just the led signature on. So I was hoping to get some input on some USA Forscan settings on a comparable vehicle to mine to see what can be tweaked.
