I have an Iconic Silver XLT Hybrid with Luxury Package and Co-Pilot 360 with a March, 2022 build date.

Since new, when backing up, the camera display enabled and the proximity alert sounded as the vehicle approached a rearward object.

Following a software update a couple weeks ago the alert stopped working.

I took the vehicle in last week for the engine fire recall and asked for the alert to be repaired under warranty in the same visit.

The Service Tech wrote on the invoice "Vehicle not equipped with backup sensors. No repair required:."

I'm wondering if the original software package accidentally enabled the alert and the subsequent update removed it?

Anyone else experienced this? If one of you FORSCAN Einsteins discover this, please let us know if this feature can be unlocked.

Thanks all!

Take a pic of your rear bumper, please. Initially I'd say that I agree with your technician but I'm curious to see.

A stock XLT even with the Luxury package won't have the rear parking sensors, that was only available on the Lariat Luxury trim. You may be thinking of the rear cross-traffic alert, which will beep at you if there is an object moving sideways behind your vehicle. The cross-traffic alert won't help you back up close to static objects, like a garage wall.

Exactly. Not sure what's going on here. You don't have the rear parking sensors without either a Fleet ID # (and fleet order) or Lariat Luxury Package. Co-Pilot360™ does include the cross-traffic alert, which are in the corners of the rear bumper. Those would let you know if something is coming from the side when in reverse, but not if you were getting close to something directly behind you.

Guys, I swear the backup alert was sounding while I was parallel parking or backing into a single space with a solid obstruction behind. I even checked with my wife to make sure I wasn’t dreaming this lol. Maybe the cross traffic alert was being super sensitive until it “learned” what to do?

it's on the corners but I don't know what area or distance it covers. cross traffic is looking for motion and it will beep 3 times. after a delay, if there's more motion, it will beep again.

it's similar but not the same as the backup distance sensing. they both definitely only work when the truck is in reverse.

backup distance doesn't do anything until something gets close straight behind and then it will start beeping, faster as you get closer until it's a solid tone when something is in the red, meaning real close. I'm very, very confident you never heard that or saw the orange and red areas it paints on your backup camera display.

that's why I asked to see pics of your bumper and agreed with your service tech in my earlier reply. (y)
