I had the same thump and symptoms. Ford dealer drained the rear AWD unit and found that it had metal shavings in it. The fluid level was also low, from factory. They ended up replacing the unit (1 day job) and I haven't heard the thump since.Thanks for the reply. No issues with the storage bins. Jack is secure and the spare is secure. It was determined it's related to the drive train. Switching to sport Mode and the noise isn't present. The amount of shifts decreases in sport mode; transmission shifts are differ.
No bulletins from Ford just yet according to FORD service.
I do have other issues which I suspect has to do with the front AWD unit.
