Hi there, I looked at the Owners Manual Snow Chain section and it stated to ”not put on tire chains on 235/65R17“ which I thought was odd. Is there tire chains that you would recommend for the stock Falken Wildpeak tires in this size? Rarely (hopefully) will I use them but a DOT requirement to have them while traveling the Cascade passes.

Also, since the Tremor is AWD is it best to chain up all tires or is just one pair of chains sufficient?

Cheers.

I'd try driving it first, the intelligent AWD system is a beast that gets me through Michigan Winter roads with ease, actually I've never felt safer driving in winter.

I have a tremor that I also purchased chains for to appease Caltrans for winter trips into the Sierras. I've never used them, nor do I feel like I would ever need to, the truck did stellar moving through 6in+ of snow and ice with the stock Falkens. That said, I've at least got the chains "box" checked in case I ever get stopped at a checkpoint for them.

I got mine for about $115 on everyone's favorite giant internet retailer that rhymes with blamazon. Here's the specific listing make/model:

SCC Peerless 0231905 Auto-Trac Light Truck/SUV Tire Traction Chain

I hope this is somewhat helpful!

I'd say there probably isn't enough clearance for chains on 235s (or bigger). You'll shred your liners. Under the part you highlighted, it says fronts only. I would think that would be sufficient, but I've never needed to use chains before so...🤷‍♂️

Yeah it’s a gray area. Some articles I read say AWD equipped vehicles should have chains on all tires. But if just one pair is sufficient, according to the manual, I’ll go with it.

Seldomly will I be using chains but on the occasion of a major blizzard in the Cascade passes on my way up to ski would be when I need them for per DOT law and my own safety.
