Protecting 110V Plug with Short Extension

I wanted higher-power usb ports for charging electronics in my truck and didn't want to buy a high-power 12V accessory since I have a bunch of AC chargers that provide high-power output. I didn't want to worry about a large charging brick pulling on the outlet and wearing out the contacts. I have seen plenty of vehicles where unsupported weight on the plug eventually leads to the plug connection not holding devices in place.

My current solution is to grab a 2.5 foot low-profile extension cord to plug into the AC outlet. This ensures there are no loads pulling on the contacts and wearing out the outlet. I will eventually have a better solution, but this is cheap and requires nothing more than a $5 extender.

Seems perfectly fine as is. I do similar stuff with my laptops to make sure the ports don't get borked. I must have 5 old laptops that work fine except all the ports are worn out.
