Interesting point about being owed the part cost as an owner. I considered the "feature" to be more than the sum of it's parts.

Image if Ford deleted the headlight bulbs and said they can't be retrofitted. Do they owe you the cost of the bulbs? Seems like the feature of being able to drive at night is worth way more than the cost of two bulbs.

I'm not trying to equate wifi hotspot with headlights, just an interesting thought experiement.
I understand what you are saying. But as others have said, there isn't really a value to the Hotspot anyway. This was likely the easiest thing to remove and keep production moving.

I never really intended to use the hot spot, just feels like a "principle" thing.
$20 credit feels insulting.
Try $55 for the foot-activated lift gate on an Escape, part of a >$1200 package on SEL, while the parts would cost hundreds to buy from Ford, if it even has the wiring harness. No plan to offer a retrofit for that from Ford, either.

Meanwhile, trucks that are built without badges receive a $50 incentive, for a badge that they'll just slap on later... That is a slap in the face.

It'd be interesting to see what % of drivers actually use the built-in hotspot in their vehicle.

Wow that is a much better example. Thanks for sharing. I feel fortunate for getting the $20 now!
