I just had a Kicker subwoofer installed in my Maverick by a local shop. They wired and mounted the sub behind the back seat after removing the factory welded bracket on the passenger side. The problem is that they screwed the sub to the back wall by drilling holes in the sheet metal and using self tapping sheet metal screws to mount the sub. I think there is only a single steel panel between the cab and the bed and I have the factory installed bed liner, so I can't tell if the screws stick out into the bed. If this is true, what is my fix for this situation?

Shorter screws. Might have to take out bed liner to see.

Ask the installer what size screws they used. Visually inspect.

Yeah they messed up, between the cab and bed I’m pretty sure is a single panel

shorter screws are not a solution when the back wall of the cab is roughly 2 or 3 mm thick. they're already very short.

lift the bedliner, cut off whatever screw protrudes, seal it with JB weld, put bedliner back in. yes, they totally messed it up. no, you're not going to get that panel repaired. no, it doesn't really matter if they fix it as I suggested.

that's definitely what they should have done. I wouldn't bother now, though.

it really doesn't have to be jb weld covering the holes where the screws went through, especially since it's under the bedliner. could seal it with black rtv honestly.
Yeah, Joe's situation would have been worse with a spray-in, a few dabs of RTV (any color :)), and he can forget about it.
