Ok, this has to be an error in this very early copy of the manual. But I can dream 😉

As I read the description of the 'included' in the XLT trim option, a remote locking tailgate was mentioned. I figure it won't open itself and fall down at the push of a button, but can be locker/un-locked remotely.

just like remote locking and unlocking the doors; they don't open themselves ;)

Haha thanks. I think that's where I read incorrectly. I agree that this just has to do with unlock and not movement!

I wondered the same thing after reading this in the owner’s manual:
Ford Maverick power tailgate 1648839028188

Why else would there be a power cord that had to be unplugged. I checked my XL and sure enough, it had the cord. However I could not get the power lock to affect the tailgate. I removed the panel on the tailgate and there appeared to be the extra latching mechanism required for the power lock feature, but I did not notice a motor to power it. Very odd… My Ford dealer knew nothing about the plug cap described in the owner’s manual. Also, seems like the power lock feature is described in the XLT features. The owner’s manual seems to be a one size fits all version.

Would love a power tailgate, but then my F-50 would start at $30,000 XLT & $34,000 for Lariat (or something like that). Regarding the OM read, never did mistaken it as for movement, always lock/unlock which is a good feature (like the trunk on a car).

The tailgate is so light power assist is not needed, I thought it was made of aluminum cause it is so light, but it's not.
