I have my order placed and I have read so much about what to do next that I am a bit overwhelmed with information and I have not been able to find a FAQ about what to do next so I want to make sure that I am doing this right.
If there is a FAQ post that already covers this I would appreciate a link to it.
So far I think this is the checklist.
1) Get yourDora order preview form when you are placing your order. This will have your sales code (basically dealership number) and four character Order Code(basically order number) on it.
2) Get confirmation Email from Ford (done) It may take anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of days. Follow up with sales person or Ford customer service if you do not get the email.
3) Call or chat with Ford customer service to confirm your order is in the system and the status. To start with you want it to be in the "Unscheduled - Clean" status. If it is anything else follow up to figure out what it means. You will need your sales code and order code from yourDora order preview form.
(Note: I have found that in Windows the button to get into the Ford Chat does not show up in the Chrome web browser but it does in Edge. Other people have also run into this.)
4) There are mixed reports if you need to have your identity verified this year so it sounds like it is safest to make sure it is done just in case Ford decides they want it later or whoever said it was not needed was wrong. This is done with what is called a the COVP process. This is a two step process.
a) Your dealer makes a copy of your driver's license and signed order when you are placing your order and submits it to Ford for approval.
b) Ford must review your COVP and approve it for your order to be processed. They will send an email to your dealer and update the system to an approved COVP status(not sure of the details) or let your dealer know that there was a problem like a name or address did not match or there was something that was illegible. Sometimes you dealer will screw up and not follow up when there is a problem which will block your order from being considered for production and you have no way of knowing that until a year later when you still have not gotten a Maverick.
Some dealers have been so busy entering orders that they are just now going back and entering the COVP information which is reasonable. The COVP approval process by Ford can take a while too especially with as busy as it has been this last week. Give them maybe a week to get this processed and approved.
5) Follow up with your sales person and ask if Ford has approved your COVP, Ask them to send you a copy of the COVP approval email or a send you screen of the COVP status showing approved. This is routine so it should not be a big deal.
In the memo that gave the dates that the order banks are closing it also said that the Retail Order Verification Process (ROVP) needs to be completed by October 5th at 10PM.
I am a bit confused about the difference between a COVP and ROVP or if it matters to the customer but it sounds like getting an approved COVP by October 5th could be important so keep on top of this until you are sure you have an approved COVP.
6) Wait.
7) Wait some more.
Is this correct or are there any changes that I should make in the post order process.
