On my 2022 Maverick there is a 1/4" to 1/8" gap in the bed of the truck from near the top of the wheel well to the tailgate on the passenger side. I never noticed this until recently because of the spray in bed liner. However after going down a dirt road I found a ton of dust in the bed. I checked the bed with a light on top of tire at night in the garage and was amazed by how poorly the bed was constructed. I took it to the dealership and complained, on December 19, 2023. I checked back with them several times to see what customer service said. Hearing nothing I got the case number and called Ford myself. I was very disappointed as they said it's ok.

Anyone have thoughts about this? Be sure to check the construction of your truck bed with a light in the dark.

Could you try to take any pictures to show us where to look please. ? I understand it's hard to see... Perhaps circling area on picture or with flashlight.
Thanks

What constitutes poor metal stamping? Is this just your take on it or is there a standard being violated?

I had a 2022 EB and now a 2024 hybrid. With both you could see daylight through the entire length where the bed meets the sides/wheel well. Crap like planter mix, dirt, straw lodged in the crack.

I used a dental pick and a vacuum to remove the crap, bought black auto grade seam caulk, used an ordinary painter's caulk gun and caulked the seams on both sides. The black matches my SIBL.

To those who say it helps drain the bed, I say there are 11 holes in the bed just behind the rear window and water flows out under the tailgate so the theory that the crevice helps drain the bed just doesn't hold water with me [pun intended].

I've owned 6 trucks, they were all body on frame and none had that gap. I can't see where unibody makes it different. I am puzzled as to why Ford doesn't caulk the seams.

If I lived in a very wet or snowy region, I would crawl under my truck and caulk the seam from the underside as well.

Yes I have noticed that as well even though I have the spray in bed liner. I have a bed cover on my truck so I'm only minimally worried about rain coming in from above, but I am concerned about Rainwater splashing up from underneath and causing premature rust.

We all bought the cheapest truck Ford makes. These trucks are not going to have the quality of a F150. I live with it. I am very pleased with my Maverick. I see where it could have been constructed better, but I also realize I bought a $26,800 truck. Place a bed liner in the truck and your worries are solved……... Next complaint please!
