So, I've been looking through the forums, constraint lists, Facebook, CIA, FBI, Ouija board, fortune tellers, palm readers, etc. to see what the best course of action is to try to get my order scheduled. Focusing on the constraint lists, I've went through and done a Need vs. Want exercise and pricing out (I believe it was at invoice pricing) some different builds and here's what I've come up with.
My original order placed is: XLT Hybrid, Lux package, Sliding window. Fairly simple for the most part. With fuel charge and destination, it comes out to roughly $25702 based on my numbers.
So I started thinking to myself, "what if I drop the Lux package?". My "new" build would now be: XLT Hybrid, 360 (for the full-size spare mostly), sliding rear window, hitch, and the 110/400 outlet. All other things being equal, this comes out to roughly $24256 (a savings of $1446). Going this route, in my opinion, isn't worth what I would give up by dropping the lux package and then going aftermarket for some of those additions.
My third scenario was a little more interesting. I basically dropped down to an XL Hybrid with all of the same additions as my "new" build. This total came out to be roughly $22016, a much different savings of $3686.
This last figure caught my attention so that's where the need vs want conversation took place for me. In my list, the "Needs" were bedliner, Bed tie down locking rails, cruise control, maybe the storage cubbies in the bed and maybe additional tie downs. I figure I could probably get the bedliner, cruise, LED bed lighting (DIY), and Tie Down rails for under $1500 all said and done.
I know there are other things that I'm losing out on but in the need vs. want category, those mostly fell into the wants.
My biggest issue is the wheels. I hate the steelies. I like the interior of the XLT but have no real issues with the XL interior.
All of this is to say......I just wasted 2-3 hours looking at ways that I can get my truck scheduled knowing that the planets have to be in just the correct alignment for that to happen. Anyway, it was an interesting exercise that I figured someone could take something away from.....

Very nice comparison. I'm sure it was a fun 2-3 hours at least.

To me you missed the biggest constraint of them all.....Hybrid. But like me, I am sure Hybrid is a NEED not really a WANT.

Exactly. It was a hybrid across the board. That was the main reason I was interested in the Maverick to begin with.

I would have never thought about getting a Hybrid then the Mav was laid out on a silver platter. Just patiently waiting now. Hope for a Jan/Feb build at best. I’m not dropping anything to be built sooner. I’m in no rush.

We almost ordered two. I was going to get the one I got fx4 4k awd xlt, and if we liked it get my wife a hybrid xl. Use the XL hybrid as the travel car...then we remember starting next year she will have to bring my wifes friends daughter home from school and we knew we couldn't fit 3 car seats/booster in the back. :(
