Yes indeed your dealer lied to you, perhaps maybe Ford lied to the dealer. I am in the same boat here as everyone else, THERE IS NO ALARM at all what so ever. It is a big joke on us, something so simple and in your face.
Ya I feel FORD needs to make this right, it is on the truck configuration, the MSRP sticker and what your salesman is telling you with confidence. This issue really got under my skin when I called the dealer and they lied to me again. It is a joke on us,

Great thread I am glad you addressed this here for everyone to see.

What I've found is the Perimeter Alarm on the XLT and Lariat is only the doors(hood and tailgate supposedly.)
I know if I roll my windows down and set the alarm(press lock twice on FOB, horn honks) the alarm will go off if you reach in and open the door.

The Interior Sensors and Inclination Sensors described in the manual are apparently referring to the shock sensor in the additional $215 Perimeter Plus add on.

That is not the point to me anyway. It has anti-theft, great. But that is NOT a security alarm. You say after they break your window then something may or may not happen if perhaps they get in the truck with a broken window. The point of a security is to deter theft, not keep your truck from being taken, 2 different things.
If a truck raises hell if someone is messing with it they will most likely leave and find something that does not. If it says nothing they will break a window to get in, sure they cannot drive it away but windows are expensive.
If you are at a hotel while traveling one would want their truck to wake them up if mussed with so you may go out and stop them. If it says nothing, in the morning you see they had their way with it.
A security system is a deterrent. Anti-thieft is what it is. Security may save you from damage and or theft of personal stuff.
So ya they lied to us. I went over this 3 or 4 times with my salesman and he assured me I had permiter alarm security, I asked him do I need the alarm option offered and he said NO. This is what gets my goat.

You will want the Perimeter Plus add on for shock detection.
Ford Perimeter Plus Vehicle Security System ~ KN1Z19A361A

Should be 15% off through today. Unless you live in Arizona or Oklahoma(like me) for some reason.
Again thank you so much! You prompted me to go order it immediately and the website led directly to scheduling w the dealer! I intended to go get it installed and ask ?'s but I got Covid Sunday (2x vax'd & 1 booster) so my husband went. It took 15 min but no one there knew anything about it! I have had him go and bump the truck in different spots and it does give a loud single horn sound. I will try testing it w windows down and I'm most interested in if he leaves the dogs inside for 5 min when he picks up dry cleaning or dinner, if they will set it off w interior sensors.

As someone else mentioned I am most interested in preventing someone from trying to steal it. I want to let a thief be warned b4 they attempt too much. Both of our cars stay out on the driveway, garage is a woodshop, till we get rid of the garage stuff. I'd love to get some nice bronze wheels & upgraded tires on the Mav (if it doesn't cost mileage lol) but even w wheel locks I'm leary, so hopefully this system gives me more peace of mind.

There is a in depth discussion on this here. It starts out about remote start/stop
but then talks about the VSS both the PA and the PA+. It is still a bit confusing but it seems what the factory installed and what you buy from ford are actually the same module, not sure.
If anyone knows where it is located please let us know cause I cannot even find mine. Check the part # on it, if it is the same them it is in the programming. That can be changed by a laptop at home with the USB to Gateway adapter for ford and the software, witch cost about $60 for both.

The factory Perimeter Alarm on the XLT/Lariat is only the Doors, hood, and tailgate alarming if opened.
The Perimeter Plus is an add on alarm module(VSS,) that you HAVE to buy separately and either install yourself or have Ford install.
Ford Perimeter Plus Vehicle Security System ~ KN1Z19A361A-L

The Manual is deceiving because it describes Interior Sensors and an Inclination Sensor, which are ONLY available on the extra Perimeter Plus module you have to buy. The manual says nothing about this. It says the Interior Sensors are in the OVERHEAD console, they are NOT, they don't exist.

I ordered one from Fairway Ford and will install it myself.

Try using the key to unlock and open the door instead of the remote locks or the keypad on the door. There certainly is an alarm and using only the key in the door doesn't disable it.

Got ya, This whole alarm thing is fairly simple. Yet the owners manual and sales literature along with dealers that seem to be in the dark from reading this stuff makes it almost funny. Yes I think you are right on this. Thanks

Could you please explain the difference between the KN1Z19A361A-L and the KN1Z19A361A. Ford site list both, yet everywhere else only lists the KN1Z19A361A, thanks for some clarification on this, I sure don't want to order the wrong one.

The manual is a bit hard to interpret, mainly because the way Ford does the headings it's not easy to see when you are moving from one topic to another. It's easier to see when you look at the table of contents on page 2.

There are two sections that descibe the different types of alarms -- the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) and the Anti-Theft Alarm System (ATAS). Then there is a third section on the ATAS settings. They could have done a better job of naming these and made it clearer which one you get with which option.

The PATS is described in a short section on page 85. The description of ATAS also starts on page 85 and extends over page 86. All the stuff below where the ATAS description starts on page 85 pertains only to ATAS. That includes the perimiter alarms, the intererior sensors, and the alarm setting. None of that applies to the PATS.

Again, like I said, they could have been clearer. The heading type size and the subheading type size are almost the same, so it's hard to tell when you move from one section to the next.

Very good question since both part numbers work on the Maverick.
