WARNING! Long post

First of all. I had a great time with my truck. I’ve owned maverick lariat hybrid with black appearance for 21 months and almost 12k miles. I waited 13 months for it to build. I had no big issues (besides battery deep sleep), drove great, excellent gas mileage, kinda sporty drive. Most importantly it was ordered to my taste.

The downside for me was interior. Style and color and different textures offered a fresh look with plenty of storage. But the cheap plastic scratched so easy. My dash, near buttons and handles sustained enough scratches to bother me. I’ve only owned cheap vehicles and I’m very careful so who knows how this truck wld look 2 years later.

The next issue was the possible engine failure. Patiently waited almost a year for a solution to recall only to get a software update and extended warranty. At the same time, Toyota tundras engine failure recall brings full engine replacement regardless of signs. Left me a sour taste and feeling of uncertainty I started looking for a replacement.

Originally I was eyeing for a ford when the lightning was announced. I was on the email
list and realized I might not get one. I wanted a efficient truck- no gas guzzler. Since values of Lightning dropped 30% or more, I began looking at a used one. I got me a Lightning Lariat FULLY loaded with pano roof tow package and extended battery. I now efficiency, capability and power 😉.

I wish you guys the best and many miles on your Mavs.
My old lariat. Taken care of

Nice Lightning - love those.

I just bought a '24 but agree on the interior and I think that's the reason to not overspend on Maverick. The interior is "plastic fantastic" no matter what trim, so don't go crazy. The value is really at the XL, though I bought an XLT.

Be sure to keep the seal lubricated on the double pano roof if you plan to use it infrequently. When the roof panels stick, the plastic arms in the mechanism break.
Check the F150 forums for what lubricant to use.

Well I’ll be transparent: my mav I purchased for 36k. I got 32k for trade in. The 23 lightning was only 56k. I had 12k remaining from the mav loan. So 44k was my new loan. Not too much more, but it’s a different class size.
So far it’s very comfy ride- not taught and sport-like as the mav. It’s big and the acceleration is rollercoaster fast! Haven’t had it long enough. My interior is plastic, but tough

There were a very few bad engines, they knew how many but not what vehicles they were installed in. It would have been poor business to recall thousands of trucks for less than 100 bad engines. The extended warranty was the smart move.

You gotta do what you gotta do. I don't know if you're aware, but Ford finally did properly address the engine failure by offering engine replacement. Of course, that's a mute point in your case. Wish you happy and safe travels with your Lightning

No way I’m having the thought of engine failure hanging over my head when driving my family on long trips.

I received my extended warranty in the mail to leave with the truck, and now the new owner. It will have to break in that time frame to repair.

I'm sure the Maverick won't have any trouble finding a new owner if not already.

Especially mine. It was ceramic coated and lovingly cared for.

🤓 I truly don’t understand how somebody gets scratches on their interior unless they’re careless. I’ve had my Maverick since November 2021 and I don’t have a single scratch inside.

You could have received a refund for unused warranty. Or is this for the recall?
