WARNING! Long post
First of all. I had a great time with my truck. I’ve owned maverick lariat hybrid with black appearance for 21 months and almost 12k miles. I waited 13 months for it to build. I had no big issues (besides battery deep sleep), drove great, excellent gas mileage, kinda sporty drive. Most importantly it was ordered to my taste.
The downside for me was interior. Style and color and different textures offered a fresh look with plenty of storage. But the cheap plastic scratched so easy. My dash, near buttons and handles sustained enough scratches to bother me. I’ve only owned cheap vehicles and I’m very careful so who knows how this truck wld look 2 years later.
The next issue was the possible engine failure. Patiently waited almost a year for a solution to recall only to get a software update and extended warranty. At the same time, Toyota tundras engine failure recall brings full engine replacement regardless of signs. Left me a sour taste and feeling of uncertainty I started looking for a replacement.
Originally I was eyeing for a ford when the lightning was announced. I was on the email
list and realized I might not get one. I wanted a efficient truck- no gas guzzler. Since values of Lightning dropped 30% or more, I began looking at a used one. I got me a Lightning Lariat FULLY loaded with pano roof tow package and extended battery. I now efficiency, capability and power
.
I wish you guys the best and many miles on your Mavs.
