Painting / Coating Black FX4 17" Alloys or BAP 18" Alloys to Silver/Grey/Pewter

Yeah, I know... I'm going for the look that is opposite of what most folks want.

If I get the BAP or the FX4 package (wish both could be combined) I'll be disappointed that I have jet black wheels. I like a little contrast between the rims and the tires, so I'd prefer the rims be lighter in color.. perhaps a silver, metallic grey or even pewter.

Has anyone lightened the color of those alloys? If you did how? Would powder coating them lighter be prohibitively expensive?

Another option would be to trade someone or grab wheels from a Bronco Sport or Ford Escape (needing of course 15mm spacers with any escape wheels).

Powder coating in my area runs $100-200 per wheel. I am leaning toward bronze myself, but on a completely different lighter wheel.

I see the BAP 18" Alloy is just a fully blacked out version of this one (the 1st Edition Alloys). How hard would it be to just remove the pait from those flat machined surfaces on the rims? That's a good look to me.

Powder coating costs vary widely, ask a quality shop in your area. You’ll also have to pay to have the tires and sensors removed, then pay for reinstallation
