Only reason I bought this configuration and not a hybrid was for my travel trailer. The service advisor told me they will hook it up to the computer and drive it with the trailer attached and see how it goes. All I can say is, so far I am not happy and my wife is pissed. She said what I am thinking, a 3 month old truck with 6000 miles should not be having issues.
Especially in light of the fact that it is being tasked with doing exactly what you paid an extra $3015 for ($2220 awd, $795 4K tow)... towing your appropriately sized rig ..

Just consider, if the issue is intermittent then troubleshooting is not possible. Leaves your mechanic or you in either a wait and see or throw parts at it situation, neither are where you or the shop want to find yourselves - be as patient as you can with them.

Trying it against a load (trailer) is an idea, may not give results if temp and altitude were factors, but I would give them credit for trying something different.

The BOV is a likely culprit, everything returned to normal on the way home, correct? If so that makes me think heat and an intermittent sensor confusing the computer. The low boost code seems secondary, I would chase down everything in the list that will kick-off low power mode.

I agree with you completely about diagnosing intermittent problems is difficult. I am glad that my dealership is trying to figure it out. I am sure I don’t sound that way. Like I said before, them not being able to tell that my truck is obviously a 4K tow package does not instill confidence.
I am more frustrated with the situation of, I bought a truck specifically to tow my trailer, and it looks like I only have problems when towing my trailer.
When the service advisor asked if I can hook up my trailer, I am more than happy to do that and let them try again.
The low power mode issue occurred on the way to twin falls Idaho the first time. I think it is 5000-6000 feet and I was doing 65-70mph. Second time was on the way from twin falls to Winnemucca nv. Still high in elevation, 60-65mph. Third and forth was between winemucca and Reno Nevada (After the 3rd low power mode was when the CIL turned on)I was going 60-65 again. Once we got into California, out of Reno, there were some steep climbs, but we were probably going between 45-60mph and once we hit the flat ground 55-60 mph.
You are correct, once back in California, the low power mode did not return and the light cleared itself before we made it home. I had hooked up my scanner and checked the code prior to the light turning off, which gave the p0299 code.
I was running 91 octane fuel when the wrench light came on the first and second time and I was running mixed 87/91 the third and the 4th time it came on.
I think I am more frustrated about the situation than my dealerships response. I don’t want a truck that can’t tow my trailer where I want to tow it. Hopefully they will be able to see some values out of range when towing the trailer and be able to fix the issue.

See my previous post. I'm also at Elevation in Utah. They need to replace your Bypass valve to solve the problem -

Did yours have the issue only when towing?I will bring it up to my service advisor. I think they are trying to replicate the problem before replacing parts. Thanks for your response.

1st time last year when it happened I was not towing. Three weeks ago I was towing @ elevation .Did your code that was thrown somehow magically clear itself and no longer shows as a fault message that's sent to you within the Ford Pass App ?

Yes, cleared after 3-5 key cycles and/or about 200-300 miles of driving without another low power instance.

Truck is back, now I need to hook up the trailer and take it back. On a separate issue, they will not do anything about my TPMS light that keeps on having an error while I drive, but they won’t do anything about it because the light isn’t on when they have it. Right now I am pretty sick of fords and should not have gone against my judgment and bought one. I am having a very negative experience.

Just got off the phone with my service advisor. I was told that my 3200 GVW (under loaded) trailer is too heavy for my 4K equipped Maverick. I responded to Fords chat bot on here and let’s see what they have to say. I am pretty furious that my 4K equipped truck cannot tow less than 3200 lbs without going into low power mode.
The only reason I got this truck, instead of the hybrid, is to tow my travel trailer. I had a minivan that could tow the trailer just fine, but a truck can’t do it?

@RichardCranium sounds like a load of bologna to me.
Good luck getting this addressed appropriately.

Total BS. I ordered 4K tow for the same reason you did, and the expectation that it should tow 4K is completely reasonable.

Just got back from picking up my truck. 2 service advisers and my tech claimed that the 3200 GVW is the “dry weight” of the trailer. I had to explain to them what GVW means and show them the sticker on the trailer that shows the dry weight is 2518. They put on the repair order that the trailer is over the towing capacity of the vehicle.

Glad, I'm going to flat tow my Mav, otherwise I would have bought an F-150
