Sat down with a salesman at local dealer September 19th and he used the Build Tool available online at Ford to build my Maverick. Added all the options I wanted etc.

Price with destination was $25,295 I put $1k down immediately and he had me sign the rest of the pages with the add-ons and base price. $23,360 plus $435 add ons.

I called yesterday for an update and to change paint color, because I was told I could do this for free up until build time.

The price breakdown was now $27,795 and the air deflectors in the original order were missing. He told me they don’t even offer them for the ā€˜23, which is complete BS.

New car manager said the salesman shouldn’t have used the pricing tool and I was SOL because Ford can raise their prices whenever they want.

The salesman told me they were closing orders when I originally came in. He also told me if I made the order that day I would save over $1k as Ford would be raising their prices.

I filed a complaint with Ford and am not sure what else to do.

The new car manager said I ordered a 2022 and the sales price was not accurate for a 2023.

That is impossible because they weren’t even taking orders for ā€˜22’s in September and how is this my problem.

Any suggestions would be great! I’m really disappointed with this mess…

There are LOTS of threads on this subject. An order in September of 2022 is subject to price protection. The dealer however does not have to abide by it. @Timbartz has covered this many times on his channel.

The salesperson definitely screwed up by using the price/build tool online since that was for 2022 models. Should have used the order guide. Didn't they give you some type of final order sheet or DORA that would have had the actual 2023 MY prices?

Since there was a $500 price increase on 2/1, my suggestion is to see if they would agree to at least the price-protected price. I am sure others would agree complaining to Ford will not do much.

You ordered a '23 on that date, as did I on 9/17/22. The '23 XLT hybrid I bought on 2/18/23 as someone else passed on their vehicle was still under the "old" '23 pricing structure and not the new increased price. The dealer you are working with sounds kinda sucky.

I still don't have a build date on my original order, and not sure what I will do if it does ever get built and I can buy it for the price I ordered it for. Will make that decision if/when I have to.
