While waiting after ordering a new Maverick on December 1st last year, I have spent a lot of time on this forum looking at posts and considering options for accessories, with lots of good reading. Also, I have started counting Mavericks I encounter on the road and in parking lots when out and about. Back in December, I rarely saw one but lately am seeing one or two a day. Usually my driving only includes going to tennis and back home and an occasional trip to the store. My wife and I went out to eat last night, which accounts for seeing two more Mavericks after seeing one during the day. I even got my Wife obsessed with counting Mavericks to the point that it may become a competition. I know where a Home Depot employee parks his, so I could cheat by going to Home Depot and counting it each day. Going to the dealership is less productive since there is rarely more than one on the lot, except for employee vehicles.

As far as the Maverick's competition, the Hyundai Santa Cruz, I don't think I've seen more than two on the road since December 1st. My wife and I went to the Hyundai dealership the other day and saw a lot of Santa Cruz's on the lot. They were all loaded and in the 40ks price range, unlike the Mavericks on the Ford lot with lack of options we want and priced below 30k. At the Hyundai dealership, long lines were observed at the service entrance. Checking the Santa Cruz Owner's forum on-line revealed lots of complaints, including clunking sounds while driving without a resolution and a trailer wiring recall requiring dealers to rip out the wiring because it might cause a fire and with no solution to replace it. My impatience actually did cause me to give the Santa Cruz consideration as a more available alternative. Only their SEL trim was comparable in price, and it included a non-turbo engine that was far inferior to the 2.0L Ecoboost Maverick engine.

I think I'm running out of obsessive-compulsive options during my wait for delivery of the Maverick and may have to just quietly go about life's daily activities. Of course there's still reading the Maverick forum and hearing about owners enjoying their vehicles.☹
My wife and I would also obsessively look for Mavericks everywhere in our neighborhood, strangely there were many more Santa Cruz models than Mavericks.. at least in our part of the country...
When we finally took delivery of our new Maverick we drove to the local supermarket and were surprised to find that we are one of three Mavericks parked in the small lot it was a very funny experience, one of them was actually shadow black just like ours!

I thought Jeep people just leave rubber duckies on the door handles. I did not know they had a wave. Getting to see a lot of Mavericks up here in Milwaukee. Maybe cuz I have one and look for them, or cuz more have them have been built.

The Jeep people meet in Daytona Beach each year and have an awesome event, including much giving to the community. I've observed a lot of interesting habits, but not the wave.

Went out in my wife's CR-V today and noticed that she has a notepad to keep her count of Mavericks. None spotted the last three days. We've both been homebodies the last two days which could account for a lack of sightings. Friday, we both did a lot of driving around town without any sightings. I need to get one in the garage and we can at least see one every day.

I've ordered a Carbonated Gray Metallic XLT AWD with FX4, Co-Pilot & Moon Roof. Scheduled for production week of 1/29. Considering a Rough Country bed mat. Not sure what's available to protect the tailgate.
I installed the hard plastic cover that you can get with your Ford Points from the dealer. Not too slick and not too thin. I think it works well.

And another vehicle cult is born! ;) I watched the Bronco Sport guys go through the same thing when I bought a '22.

Wow! I do like wiring diagrams. Had to get one for a Honda some years back.

After ordering the Maverick, it occurred to me that I could install a touchscreen radio in my 20 year old pickup instead of getting a new truck to get all the new stuff. However, replacing the 2WD with AWD would not be as easy.
Yea, the wiring diagram is in black and white, I would imagine that the original is in color, like the one I have for a 1992 Mustang.

It appears to me that the only custom fit tailgate covers for the Maverick are the Ford one and WeatherTech. By the time I get my truck, there may be more. The other route is to get protectors later to cover up the damage. The only thing that looks new on my current truck is the bed where it was covered with a mat.
