Original order placed for a Maverick XLT hybrid by a different buyer early Q4 2021. I had a Lighting on order at the time but cancelled late 2021 when I learned of the Maverick as it better suited my needs. Same dealer handling the Lightening called me mid-March 2022 alerting me the original buyer of the Maverick was backing out. I jumped on it, plunking down a $1k deposit and getting a purchase agreement detailing the MSRP sales price. I was able to change the color at that time. The vehicle hadn't been scheduled for production so I dropped the spray-in bed liner and 360 option at the dealer's suggestion as they were constaints at the time and was told that would speed things up. Yea, right.

Fast forward to Oct. 2022 when the VIN was finally issued and scheduled for production: Oct. 17, then Nov. 14, Dec. 12, Jan. 9, then cancelled and rolled to a 2023 MY. The dealer claimed at that point the vehicle was assigned a Priority 2. I got all my info from Ford customer service/tracking site as the dealer wasn't timely with updates. I did not receive any emails from Ford, supposedly because I was not the original buyer and the dealer claimed they could not update the contact info. BS? My providing contact info to FORD did not solve the issue.

With all the rescheduling delays during Q4, I started to inquire about price protection. The dealer said "nyet", no protection for you buddy since you weren't the orgininal buyer. I confirmed this with a few other reliable sources and held out that maybe this truck would get produced before more increases to the MSRP. Wishful thinking on my part.

Feb. 2023 the new VIN finally showed up with production scheduled for the week of Feb. 14. Truck has been built and shipped Feb. 22 via rail with an ETA NE Ohio sometime early-mid April. Window sticker pulled from the Ford tracking site shows an MSRP of ~10% higher than the original price from March 2022 which it appears I'm stuck with paying. Ford's price protection apparently doesn't apply if you were not the original buyer.

This whole process has been a royal PITA. I only hope the Maverick lives up to its hype and lasts me a long as the nearly 20 year-old F-150 it will replace.

Yeah you aren't the original order holder and you got to skip the line and pay MSRP on a Maverick (hybrid too!)....

You should be exuberant instead of deflated. Must be a tough way to go through life always negative.
