@Bonus1580 before you buy an extended warranty from whatever dealer you purchase from, look into @Granger Ford or Flood Ford pricing for genuine Ford warranties.
You'll have to use an address outside of FL to purchase it due to restrictive FL laws, but all paperwork is handled electronically, so that won't matter.
Good luck on your decision making.

Personal preference here, but…. As some with a family member who had their bacon saved by Volvo safety equipment, CoPilot 360 was a “have to have” on my list. Only a few months in and I am very happy to have it. Drivers are crazy and getting crazier, and CoPilot has helped me avoid tangles already.

We did the test drive tonight of the FX4 and to my surprise the wife loved it. I was pleasantly surprised as well.
Barring second thoughts after sleeping on it, we’ll probably move ahead tomorrow.
The most important part of your post is "YOUR WIFE LOVED IT" buy it now before she changes her mind!

Hi all,

I'm interested in getting into a Maverick and am doing some research. My priorities are:
  • I want to be able to take it on longer road trips
  • Keep it simple and reliable (not interested in all of the interior features aside from power seat)
  • AWD, light off-roading but nothing technical (one of my goals is to do the Trans America Trail, so forest roads)
  • Ability to tow a small, light work trailer
I'm thinking I want the 2.0L Ecoboost AWD XLT with the 4K tow package and probably the Luxury package. I am unsure whether I need FX4. FX4 seems pretty hard to find. I can find a couple reasonably-priced lightly used 2024 examples that have the 4K+AWD. I'm just really unsure whether I'd regret not getting FX4.
are you sure you want to give up the extra 10 mpg by going with the ecoboost?

If you can find one with the FX4 package I'd highly recommend it. FX4 is meant for off-road. the AWD version is meant for paved roads unless you the upgrade tyres. As HE says it's a no-brainer just for the tyres alone.
Tires.

@BeardedMarine Yeah, but no posting pics until I have the keys ;)

@MM Mav Thanks! Had no clue that was a thing. I can purchase that warranty sometime after I buy the vehicle from the dealer, right?

@Suzukiridr14 Yep, I was really surprised and so was she, and that really sealed the deal IMO

@wax87 I wanted the additional towing capacity of the EB and the offroad capability. I like keeping my options open... I suspect my wife's next car will be either plug in hybrid or full electric and that will be the truly economical one.

@Halo9x You do you, but I'm not gonna hate on the Queen's English...

Thanks for the advice/insight all! Should be closing the deal tomorrow. I feel like I'm getting a good deal, it's the best price I can find for the market on this config and I like this dealer - they've been the least pushy and even offer a lifetime powertrain warranty.

For me, the must haves were: boatloads of turbo torque, be able to tow a 3,000 lb camp trailer and go off road, which means, get the fx4 package. It is a real bargain when you consider skid plates, different shocks, larger radiator, larger engine fan, off road modes, hill descent control, front tow hooks and the best looking wheels in the entire Maverick lineup. FX4 was a no-brainer.

@Bonus1580 you are under no obligation or requirement to purchase an extended warranty on your vehicle at the time of sale.
I picked my truck up just shy of a year ago and purchased the extended warranty in August before Ford increased the cost in the beginning of September.

If they used a turbo 4 + hybrid, kind of like how the F-150 uses a turbo 6 + hybrid, sure, that would be great. But pulling a trailer up a mountain grade for 15 minutes is going to be 15 minutes of purring along at 2,700 rpm, making 270 lb/ft of torque, versus the N/A engine screaming along at 4,700 rpm for 15 minutes while making 155 lb/ft of torque.
Not only that, but you can’t get the hybrid as a FX4 or Tremor. CVT’s are no bueno off-road.

Personally, I could not tell a lot of difference in ride quality on highway other than tire quality, but I like the handling on the fx4 better than my original xl AWD.

There is someone or a group that is offering X plan that may close the gap between the new vs used.
If you have 90 days, you pay the $50 to Mustang Club of America. (but still not as good as granger pricing)

To me seat covers look like TV shows with clear plastic on sofas and chairs.
That wasn't just television. I had a friend whose mother had that in her living room in the 70s and at lest into the 80s. *Noone* went in there without company. Plastic on those sections of the carpet, too, iirc.

I’d forgotten the other reason I want the EB is specially because I don’t want a CVT after seeing the relatively short lifespan of them in our Subaru (~100k miles or so). I know the tech is improving, but I prefer things that have a shot at being serviced and repaired than just replaced.

Thanks for adding the information. Also if you know any Ford employee or retiree that also may apply or put in for X plan or a pin number.

I would highly doubt the Granger deal would be better and consistently comparing it to x plan unless someone also had other discounts that not available with x plan like farmers 500 discount etc. Because if they are not selling it at MSRP and offering 100 over invoice the discounts can come into play. Fortunately x plan is offered nationally and to those that may not be eligible for certain discounts but also a dealer close for service. Basically it's A or Z plan plus 4% so usually just under invoice. In rare circumstances if a dealer may discount the vehicle significantly to 100 over invoice and if the buyer is eligible for a discount but a whole lot of if's.

Again thank you for bringing to light how and who to contact getting X plan

I'm pretty sure that 3% under invoice is always better than .4% under plus $275. :ROFLMAO:

Also, the $500 discounts can tack on, too. It will cost me $20 to join the Nevada Farm bureau . . .

Now, the catch with Granger is that you either have to pick it up in Iowa, or have it shipped. But they meet you at the airport.
