I was going to get some CrossClimate 2's yesterday then I saw the WeatherReady 2's on display side by side with the CC2. I decided to investigate them. Discount Tire (other places as well) has them $15 cheaper than the CC2, $80 off set of 4 if you buy them before tomorrow, and $100 manufacture rebate. That right there is a $260 saving after tax over CC2 if I get all the discounts and rebates.
Goodyear says they perform better then CC2. Then there is Discount tires data. WR2 shows they are not EV rated, higher roller resistant (1.5) vs CC2 (4.5), more noise (3) vs CC2 (3.5), worse stopping distance in almost all conditions. WR2 (Dry 129, Wet New 153 and Old 196, Winter Rating 5) Vs CC2 (Dry 125, Wet New 145 and Old 164, Winter Rating 4.5.
So, looking at the data going on with WR2 it shows better performance than stock and a little worse than CC2. Save money over CC2 but lose MPG over the CC2 and Stock. It looks fuel cost vs tire cost could be a wash or more if the rolling resistance is that bad. The data could be flawed since it is new.
The rubber did fell softer on the WR2 over the CC2. The Discount Tire data did say they did test it at 60 MPH on Dry Roads. Did no say wet weather was used just showed data on it . Snow weather no testing. Then next to the data it shows CC2 comparison. I find is hard to believe wet stopping is that bad to the CC2.
Either way got 9 hours to make up my mind.

I am replacing the stock ProContacts at 41k. They started to wear down badly at 20k. At 30k handling for wet weather was bad. We have not had much wet weather this year so with winter coming needed to change them out.

Anyone have experience with them being out only a few months?

IDK Generally I prefer relying on professional reviews and less on consumer ratings.
That is why I like researching tires at Tire Rack.
Currently the best all-season tire seems to be the Perelli Scorpion WeatherActive.

Here is the link to the TireRack test video and head-to-head shootout of these tires.
Tires Tested:
Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra (Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season)
Continental CrossContact LX25 (Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season)
Cooper Discoverer EnduraMax (Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season)
Michelin CrossClimate2 (Grand Touring All-Season)

I do not have any experience with them but I did just get a set of Nokian Remedy WRG5 tires installed on my 23 Hybrid. They are an All Weather Tire with the 3Peak snowflake rating. I have had good luck with Nokian tires.

Too soon to tell, but the reviews are excellent and they checked all the box's for my needs. I went with the OEM size of 225 65 17. I believe they weigh 26.5 lbs and are low rolling resistant and designed for electric cars. Made in the USA, Tenn..

So far, after just @75, miles they seem to ride well and are quite on dry pavement.

They have an $80 pre paid card rebate till the end of the month.

Good luck with what ever you go with.

I can see that. There is one guy on youtube has them on a mach-e rally and seems to like them so far. He was going to go with CC2 but deiced to the the WR2. There is a few reviews around on them that are positive. Yet nobody is going to have winter test on them yet. Since they was just released at the end of Aug.
The negative reviews made me shake my head since they was talking about the old tires. Length of ownership did not match release or posted photos of the old tire.

Negative consumer reviews can be very helpful. People are less likely to review a product positively than they are to leave a negative review. These negative reviews can be a good indicator of possible issues with the product. If there is a long list of the same complaint then there is likely and issue. If the complaints are all over the place then it is possibly a user error kind of situation.

Very true my wife only looked at the 2 negative review. The problem is the two negatives was not even for said tire. You can tell they was referring two the older style based on how long they said they owned them ans showing photos of the old ones.

If the WRG5 is anything like the older versions of the tire, in our family we've had WRG series 2s, 3 and 4s on various vehicles, it's got a very short period of peak performance. They start out very good for the first year, then there is a sharp decline after that. By year 2-3 they are useless on ice, and start to fall apart. Year 4, not safe in rainy weather. I much perfered the CC+ (predates CC2) and the way it performed even when worn, but WRG4 was all I could get at the height of all the shortages a few years ago.

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully I do not experience the same results.
How many miles are you putting on in a year and if you were so unhappy with them why did you keep getting them? I understand why you got the 4.

Recently put a set of WeatherReadys on the wife’s escape instead of the WeatherReady 2 because of the lack of reviews. If the WR2s are anything like the WRs they replaced, I’d buy em. They’re incredibly quiet, grip well on loose pavement, and have higher mileage rating than peers - all things that are important for my situation. They replaced a set of MaxLifes that we got the as advertised 85k miles out of before needing to be replaced.

I got the WRG2 10 years ago on a car, and the WRG4 two years ago on the Maverick. As I said, after my experience with them, I didn't really want them, but that's what there was. Other family members bought the WRG3s before my G2s started to go bad. I never purchased a set of G3s myself. I went for the CC after having the WRG2. I usually drive around 9-10k miles per year. I am hoping the G4s do better, but they are already getting noisy after just shy of two years with them (December 2022 purchase).

Thanks.

My research indicates the 5s are redesigned. Different tread pattern, kevlar added in sidewall's, made in a new plant in Tenn.. Hope some of the past issues you speak of have been resolved.

The reviews are excellent but since they are a new design long term data is not available yet.

I looked at the CC2. I live on a dirt road and mud can be an issue. The tire store did not recommend them for those conditions. I have a friend who runs them and speaks highly of them. I have no doubt they are excellent tires.

Given that it's so new that Tire Rack hasn't objectively tested it yet, I wouldn't touch it. I've got 2 vehicles on Pirelli Scorpion Weatheractive bought with rebates and are very happy with them. If you can't wait until there is sufficient data on the Goodyears, stick with the Pirelli's or Michelin's.

In terms of tread pattern, it looks like they added a few extra sipes running a different direction, otherwise it's unchanged. Never had an issue with the side walls, I wonder why they felt the need for kevlar?

No direct experience with these tires, but I do have the CC2's. Have had them for maybe 1500 miles now -- they are fantastic!

We are starting to get into the rainy season here and just had a pretty good storm. I was driving and generally am able to avoid most hydroplaning situations, but found myself driving through a pretty good puddle I didn't see on the freeway. It was so surprising because I heard the sound of the water being thrown out like you normally would while hydroplaning, but the steering wheel didn't jerk and I never lost control/traction. Also, a few weeks back a deer ran out a little ways in front of me on dry pavement and I stepped on the brakes medium-hard. I am convinced the truck stopped sooner. I felt the ABS kick in, which normally I wouldn't expect unless in a full-panic stop, but I think the tires grabbed the pavement that much better. It was noticeable.

If these tires you got are like the CC2's, I think you will be very happy. Personally, every time I have had Goodyear tires I have felt meh about them. I've tried numerous other brands and styles and have gotten to the point where I pretty much exclusively shop Michelin and I have never been disappointed.
