I've have been driving a FX4 AWD 2.0 for almost 3 years and have never used anything but 87, no issues. As for radio I have issues too not much you can do just make sure you have the latest software it gets better after updated software but don't think its ever going to be perfect. Engine noise is normal as long as you have oil and goes away when warned up or less noticeable. Keep a eye on, I've locked myself out of vehicle with it running, they say its my fault by hitting the lock lever getting out but don't thing I am, I always keep a window open now when getting out of vehicle with key inside and running even though I have a keypad.
Looks like that dog can hunt!

...Bought the wife....ok I cant lie, I wanted it too...
Laughing at this one. Same exact situation. It's our 2nd vehicle, but hers for work (she has the shorter drive). But yeah, when she has to run errands after work or make a work trip for something "oh no, I get... I mean... have to take the truck".

i dont want to rely on the knock sensor and boost/timing changes. 91+ it is. Thank you!
My '22 FX4/4K/2.0Eco is 40K+ miles and has sipped on the 87 all along. The only time I wish I had gotten better fuel is when I moved my son. My typical 33-35MPG tanked at close to 15 with the rental trailer.

Other than that, 87 has been a non-issue.

great stuff guys and gals. this truck fit what we needed perfectly. i have a sierra 2500 for heavier hauling and a beater subaru to commute to work ( www.teamsaris.com ). The mighty maverick is for the wife to get hay, shavings, etc plus amazing mpg while doing so. We looked hard for a station wagon that fit the bill but nothing was in the budget that we liked. Plus, it was important to me to buy something from an american company. The maverick with the full topper will have way more dry storage than a subaru outback or something. And its way freakin cooler.
I did in fact opt for an aftermarket 90k bumper to bumper warranty.
EQ on the radio is adjusted pretty nice and it sounds great...just a few weird spots that so far seem avoidable. Honestly, most people would never notice and no shot a dealer would.
good to hear im not the only noisy cold engine. it does sound internal to my ear, but not worried if its a characteristic of that engine.
love that theres a community for these rigs.

And FYI we had a bit of a chill come through. Today was hanging around 1 or 2 below and yes it did seem a bit noisier when I started up.

FYI a "slim powered subwoofer" took me an hour to install (I'm a klutz) behind the rear seat and improved the stock stereo sound 234%.

Not to disappoint you, but you are relying on these functions regardless of the fuel type you use. They never "turn off". The only variance is FE, HP & TQ output.

Congrat's on the purchase, these are fantastic little trucks. 🤠
