I ordered in June/July (I can't recall when it started, but I ordered as soon as I could) and asked for it to come around March/April. Well, it arrived on time!

Our newest truck just arrived and is almost fully loaded (First Edition, Lariat, Rapid Red, 4k Tow Package, All-Weather Tray Style Set Floor Liners, 2.0 Ecoboost, AWD, Copilot 360, Moon Roof, etc,). I had a good feeling about the truck initially and then was concerned after reading about the recalls, but that was addressed rather quickly. I ordered through Long McArthur Ford (Thank you guys for your help!) and they made my experience as painless as possible after dealing with dealerships wanting thousands down initially at the start of the orders when the Maverick first came out. I was concerned about ordering from a different state, however my truck arrived with not a scratch on it and the delivery person was very careful unloading it.

My husband was not so sure about a smaller truck (we are the same height, 5'6, but he prefers bigger trucks) and has been skeptical about it being as good as the hype has been.

So, he drove it first and the first ride was better than I expected. We live in a more rural area and there are a lot of bumps that we could feel every bit of in our other truck, but not so much in our Maverick. It was pretty quiet though we did not get the hybrid option. I was actually a bit confused if the car was on at first as I'm used to driving older vehicles. He actually complimented the truck that it rode pretty smoothly, and I could tell he wanted to drive it again hahaha. The second time I drove, and it was a very nice ride for me. The seats were very comfortable and there was so, so much leg room. The gas and brake pedals took some getting used to (if you drive an older vehicle, you feel me 😂), but it could get up to speed with traffic in no time at all. The handling with turning is wonderful for it being a truck. This is coming from someone who's first personally *owned* vehicle that I, myself, have driven being a Maverick and what I've driven before has been passed down or bought as is. I have been absolutely excited to have it here, and my husband has officially jumped onboard and grown to love it as well.

As for the exterior, I love the design for the First Edition. We have the trifold cover which I prefer because it doesn't seem to obstruct the view if folded back twice and sits down pretty well when parked. The seal is nice and the bed liner was an option I'm not regretting waiting for. I haven't noticed any issues with the paint that I've seen others post, but am hoping nothing occurs on that end. The tailgate is not that heavy, either.

Interior wise, personally I like the seating design aesthetically and comfort wise. They are very easy to clean and have good support. The only negative sides are that the headrest oddly slopes inwards at the top. Not sure of the reason for that, but it makes me want to remove the headrest. We have 2 kids, and the first thing the youngest did was climb into her seat after it rained, but the seats are very, very easy to wipe down. Also, the ActiveX reminds me of leather; if you sweat, it is "sticky"; also I am concerned about long term wear. So, I will be getting covers for the seats.

The dial. I am having mixed feelings about it. I don't particularly like it, but I'm getting used to it. The positive is that it won't shift unless you brake, but it's still a dial.

Regarding the auto off for the engine, it has not been noticable to me enough for me to turn it off every time I get in the car. My husband hasn't even brought it up and he's driven the truck the most in town, so it doesn't seem to be much of an issue for us. We'll keep it on, especially if it helps with gas conservation.

The back seats have a tremendous amount of leg room for our kids, more than I thought (again, we are 5'6, our oldest is almost 4'). I'm actually surprised about how easy it was to install the car seat. We have a Graco Grows4Me 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat which is pretty bulky and a small booster seat. I am not sure if they adjusted something to make it easier to install in the interim or if I just got lucky, but I did not have as difficult of a time tightening the belt as others did in their videos. It took less than 5 minutes, which was faster than our older truck. However, the buckles for the actual seat belts are a bit sunk in for kids.

The AC system now that spring/summer (what even is it now??) is here has been working wonderfully, and we are loving the dual temperature feature.

As someone who is not used to newer vehicles, I was a bit concerned about the start/stop button rather than a key for safety reasons, but it really is not an issue with the key fob and with the app.

We've had it for a few days so far (as of Monday), so I'll post some interior pics as well later to show the car seat set up for the parents out there.

My overall impression of the Maverick is that it has truly lived up to the hype. I feel like it's something we can take for trips out of state or commute and at the same time go camping or take the boat to the lake with. It feels like a big win for Ford in my opinion and a big challenge for the automotive industry to stand up to.

Edit: So, I feel dumb now because nearly a week driving the truck and I just figured out that the headrest is actually adjustable. If you pull it forward it will 'click' and after pulling it forward to the furthest setting, it will stand up straight instead of being angled downward. So, that takes off one of the cons for me. I'm still not exactly sure why there is an option to angle it forwards. If anyone is keen on this, please let me know because I am genuinely curious about the design purpose(s).

Here is a picture of the back with the car seat and a picture of the headrest I mentioned.
