Apple and orange, ya, but will be driving both a long time. Both in same $ range, little unde 30k.Been pretty much loving the Mazda, and after driving the XLT EB, AWD couple months, love that too. I assumed the Mac would be def. more utility, basically sacrificing driveability . ride and comfort. And driving preferance would be CX 30.Pleasant surprise. No! I do not have a 'favorite child'. Minor +'s and - s both. Mazda bit quieter, def. smoother, better sound, mileage 31 v. 27, road awareness. Mac for a tall guy easier by lot to get in., seat more comfy(!) - needed a pad in Mazda , back seat way more room. Mac handles like A car, and both are quite peppy, and really fun to drive!
In closing, IMO if it fits your needs, can't go wrong with a Maverick!

And the Mav is a pickup! That was a must for me. Glad it hangs with your Mazda in the fun factor, that is saying something!
