I just bought a new 2025 base Lobo in Velocity Blue. I had been looking at new cars to replace my wife’s CRV but started looking at the Maverick to replace my 2019 Honda Ridgeline about 3 weeks ago. Both my wife and I are 78 years young but my wife has been diagnosed with the on-set of alzheimer's, so replacing my truck made the most sense.

I had traded my VW GTI in on the Ridgeline and have regretted not having performance vehicle for the last six years. I had a new 1988 S10 that I modified into a nice street truck and a new 1999 Ford F150 Lightning SVT back in the day, so I’m not unfamiliar with performance trucks.

I would have preferred the high-level Lobo but got a deal I couldn’t refuse. Last Friday I noticed that a Denver Ford dealer was advertising a new 2025 base Lobo for $28,066 ($9,659 cheaper than $37,725 MSRP). About 5 seconds after seeing the add I call the dealer and said I would buy it! The only option was the optional wheels ($100). I had a friend drive me up to Denver first thing Saturday morning and was coming home with my new Lobo by noon Saturday.

The last motor vehicle forum I was on was for Ford Lightning SVTs back at the turn of the century. Now I’m here to learn and enjoy the Maverick community.

Congrats on the new truck. I just got mine a few weeks ago. So far I love it. Sport mode is fun I have not really messed with Lobo mode yet.

Thanks,
I have only put about 200 miles on the Lobo and that was mostly in normal mode with maybe 30 miles in sport mode. I need to get use to the handling before I get a bit more aggressive. We have been having a mild winter here in Colorado so I have some interesting roads I can explore now before Summer is here.

I know how unbelievable my Lobo deal was, but it was under some unusual circumstances. I was going to do some home improvements to my house so I had moved money from my retirement accounts to my savings account about 2 months ago while I got estimates for the improvements. Been reviewing various estimates but had not committed to one before last weekend, so I had cash in hand to buy the Lobo in cash. Also, I had started a new vehicle search about a month ago and had decided on a Maverick about 2 weeks ago. To facilitate the new vehicle, I had a cash offer for my Ridgeline from CarMax in place. These moves allowed me a lot of freedom that I never have had in the past.

My guess is the Lobo was advertised as a loss leader to get people into the dealership for the Presidents holiday weekend and the dealership wasn’t counting on somebody having cash available to buy it on a cash deal the day it was advertised. It had 262 miles on it so it may have been used as a demonstrator but it had never been registered and could be sold as new. Just looked at the dealership online advertisements and they have two 2025 Lobo’s listed at only $2k off MSRP.

Bottomline, is I ended up with a great truck at an unbelievable price.

Congrats on that deal! And I thought I got a good deal on a base lobo at 6500 off at the end of last year.

Holy smokes, that's a hell of a deal. And here I was thinking I got a smoking deal for $31K out here in California.

I just bought a new 2025 base Lobo in Velocity Blue.

Congratulations on an outstanding bargain! I too would have preferred the high-level but at $5k more, couldn't justify the additional bells & whistles. An XLT with lux package would have offered more value - BUT I'd lose the nice appearance and driving dynamics I get with the Lobo. So you and I sound like we have the exact same optioned vehicle - color and all.

So if that dealer was offering that at $9k LESS than MSRP, it just goes to show how much room there is for negotiation. Best I could do was get the cumulative $2k off from Ford and walked out the door at $38k, tax, title, tags. Wasn't excited about that but it wasn't going to kill me, either.

Nonetheless, congrats on an excellent purchase and may you have many years of enjoyment! Best wishes on your personal situation, too.
