Howdy neighbor!! Thank you for sharing! I see a lot of Ken Grody license plate covers so it's reassuring to see that they've earned a good reputation.

I'll have to check out NCF. I've saved California Automotive Solutions and Conover Tires from Costco's Verified Mechanics (obvious trend here). Any opinion on either of those? Is Grody good but just too busy?
This will be my first visit to a service shop to get an oil change at 10k and 3 recalls. I’ll report back on my experience. Taking Mighty Mav to Vista only because they are a newer, larger center and my neighbor han nothing negative to say about them.

You said it yourself, your frugal. The '25 hybrid AWD would bring a premium price and we don't even know if it will be offered. Find yourself a '24 hybrid. I put the word out to a few dealers and I had a '24 hybrid in less than a week. You really have to ask yourself if AWD is even needed. We live in a very snowy and cold part of the county and have never had a problem with our 2015 Camry fwd for the last nine years. A good set of snow tires and the Camry never had a problem.

Man, this is extremely helpful! And nice to know we have nice neighbors :p

I work in Mission Viejo so I definitely check options in Orange and OC in general.

I'd definitely look at either Ken Grody or Gosch Ford since Gosch was on Costco Auto as their recommended dealer, so it looks like they're both good dealers to work with.

Re: your Edit: this is for the Hybrid, I'm assuming? Those are appealing numbers. Still, I'm ok sacrificing a little mpg overall for the mental comfort of having AWD. (feel free to tell me if I'm crazy for thinking that way)
Yes, 42-45 mpg is for my '24 Lariat hybrid. When I ordered my hybrid and realized it would be a wait, 18 months it turned out, I purchased a new '22 EB off the lot at Fritz Ford in Riverside. I had the EB FWD for 9,000 miles. I got about 31 mpg. So I have experience with both.

The EB is peppy. The hybrid merges just fine onto the I-5 as well. If you require AWD then at this point in time you will need to go with the 2.0EB. An AWD EB gets fewer mpg's than and EB with FWD. Personally, I don't feel the need for AWD. If you pull a boat out of the water and up a ramp, then maybe AWD. If you tow an ATV or dirt bikes out to Borrego on dirt and sand, then maybe you need at least an AWD if not a Tremor 4 WD. Depends how you plan to play with your truck after the freeway comute.

Since your comute is mostly on the I-5 through Camp Pendleton at freeway speeds, then slows in San Clemente and S. J. Capistrano, my estimate is the hybrid will have a 2-4 mpg advantage over the EB AWD on your comute. Hope this helps.

And even with the Costco referral, ask the selling dealer, or any dealer for that matter, to break down in writing, what the fees and charges are that go into the out the door price. For example, you can shop around for an extended warranty and buy it after your purchase if you want one. I personally never buy an extended warranty. I figure I have 3 years and 36k miles, longer on some components, to determine if it is troublesome. Neither of my Mav's have been troublesome although the 12v battery on the hybrid runs low, but still always starts, if not driven for 3 or 4 days. Hope this helps.

I'm almost 1000% sold on an AWD Ecoboost XLT Mav. My wife, who wants me in a new car more than anyone, asked why I don't just put an order in. After using the Costco Auto Program to send requests out for used '23 Mav's accidentally to a dealer, the dealer also asked if I was in the market for a Maverick.

On top of being overly scrupulous and a bit frugal, I find myself caught between a rock and a hard place.

I've looked at the most recent order posts in the Orders forum and I'm not even sure my ride will last another year in the condition it's in.

With the images of the '25 Mav circulating it wouldn't surprise me if orders for it started within the next few months. It'd be amazing if they released an AWD Hybrid, PHEV even. I have a mostly highway commute of 80+ miles round trip daily so having a hybrid helps but not compared to a lot of city driving so it's not a dealbreaker for me. The certainty of AWD compared to FWD however is a dealbreaker.

Do I bite the bullet and settle for a used Mav that doesn't quite fit my ideal build, order a '24 now and hope it doesn't take a year, or wait for the '25 orders to open and pray that I can get an AWD Hybrid a year after I order it?
FYI, I’m 84 miles a day round trip commute with only 15 miles of that being non-interstate backroads. Yet I’m averaging 41 mpg calculated (42.5mpg) per the computer screen with my hybrid. I’ll admit that I’m not doing jackrabbit starts but I’ll have you know I’m driving about 80mph on the interstate. I live I Georgia with rolling hills so not sure if that matters. 2023XLT hybrid now with 25k miles.

From what I’ve read I would not have expected that since so much of my commute is highway. I do have a tonneau cover which I think helps some.

Just bite the bullet and order what you want. I've had my xlt lux 4K fx4 for 2 years 27k miles without any issues what so ever. Love the little guy. As for AWD. I have a jeep Rubicon currently and have had a couple dozen lifted jeeps over the years. I 4 wheel regularly. The maverick is a pretty capable truck for light off road class 6 roads in stock form. I drive more highway than city so it was a better choice than the hybrid and it goes like a scalded cat compared. Don't settle for something that you're not 100% about. They may be an inexpensive vehicle but it's still good money to spend on something you're not happy with.
