Ask your dealer about replacing your Audio Control Module under warranty. That fixed all my CarPlay issues. The only other thing I do is wait until the head unit fully boots up before plugging in the phone.

This solves so many issues with iPhones, from chargers not charging, to CarPlay not connecting, to not mounting on a hardwire connection to a Mac. I use a can of compressed air, wipe down the connector, in my case Lightning, and always use cables at least M-Fi certified from a known manufacturer, like Anker.Clean the usb port on your phone and try again.
