Need clarification on bed tie downs on XL

So, I been reading on the 6 tie downs that are standard equipment on the XL model. So, it appears that I have to buy all the D-rings and attachments to be able to use any tie downs?

So, are there just holes and I have to buy the rings??? Side of box I can see that and sounds like there I would need to purchase and install. But the bed itself I have to buy and install them also??

You get 2 anchor points near the cab that are up near the rails, two near the tailgate that are a few inches above the bed floor, and two on the tailgate. You are missing the D-rings in the floor near the cab and another pair of anchors near the tailgate that are up higher. You get pretty much what I had in my old truck for 12 years and managed fine.



If you order the bed rails then you also get the missing d-rings and anchors, though you lose the top anchors near the cab as the rails use the same mounting point.

Excellent!! Thank you very much so two tie downs will be equipped with the truck and have to install attaching points on all other treaded positions.

The holes for the anchor points that are up high just inside the tailgate are there but are not threaded. You have to either tap the threads or us self starting bolts.

I think the same holds true for the floor tie downs.

At least they were not on my 23XL Hybrid.

I used the drings on the left with 8mm body bolts. 3/4x8mm i think. Only ones i could find with proper bolt spacing, nice.
Used the tie downs on the right. 6mm body bolts.

I can't believe the holes aren't tapped for the rings and or tie down spots. Crazy!!!!

Great info. I see where you have the upper tailgate tie down that is not included on the XL. Did you install that yourself or did it come with your trim? If you did it yourself, do you know what size screws you used? I want to make sure what size will fit through the tie down before I tap the hole.
