It's barely even been over 12 hours and I already wish I was back out in the forest.

My partner likes camping with her friends, I have always been more of a 1 or 2 people ordeal person, myself.

Since getting the Mav, we have been doing much more camping and trying to perfect our base camp and make it into our little car camping capable outfit.

This is one of our better setups, and I wanted to share it because I really would've liked to make it even better, but this weekend did not call for that being necessary.

Looking forward to getting to some more remote campsites next year, maybe with some Canadian crown land camping up on the shield as well. I wasn't able to have fun on trails while I was in the area as I had tore off my engine felt by nearly finding the limits of my trucks capability (but I made it through so clearly not)

Enjoy and feel free to share anything you think may make this a more enjoyable setup. Ideally we would not be spending much of any time at camp, but when we do, I'd like it to be comfy

Absolutely! Many things to learn and make it better each time we go! This is the Mavs 4th trip. Was a lot more 75+mph driving to this campsite so the gas was horrible but still 35mpg overall

I love my Gazelle T4 overland edition. It will fit in the bed of the Maverick, but has to be angled. Next trip I take it will be placed on top of my rack to free up a little more bed space for my doggos stuff.

I am in the process of trying to design a draw system for the bed, one side for cooking other side for misc gear.

I have picked up some tent tarp poles to make a "carport" out of.

I am a Spring Fall Winter camper and haven't been out since late April. I do not like crowds or traditional camp grounds or even State parks. I prefer using dispersed camping in the somewhat local National Forrest.

I use a buddy heater to warm the tent, but also use hanging moister absorption bags to keep condensation down.

Camping gives me the peace and quiet my soul needs.

This season will be the first season of my doggos going. They are Labrador pups who are brothers. Need to figure out bedding for them.

Love seeing other Mavericks out camping and adventuring.

I think you're onto quite a few things that I am looking to explore as well! Once I have my own space and garage, a removable slide-out drawer system is absolutely something I want as well, so, if you end up doing that please do make a post as a lot of my cooking and cleaning has been done off the tailgate these last couple years! Lol

Do you by chance have a link to the poles? Have been trying to find something that is good enough quality for lives not depending on it but also not too crazy expensive, and have come up rather dry on the wet day protection front.

Dispersed campgrounds and "cars not recommended" campsites up in semi northern Ontario (Algonquin to start, but up from there) are exactly what I am trying to get into. My partners friends are very much about partying in the bush and I just don't want much of anything to do with that. I want peace and quiet from an already overwhelmingly loud life!

Was the heater a specific brand? I have always been very weary of those, my partner and I just use a couple 0⁰ rated mummy bags and my -40⁰ rated blanket underneath (or on top, if needed, but we have never experienced it being that cold)

Bringing the pups is a great time and labs would be perfect for it! We used to bring my husky but I feel at least for the more established spots it is just too much to keep track of and she isn't allowed enough freedom for us to feel good about it, so she stays back with my mom when we go where she has a fenced in backyard to play with her brother (a lab/shepherd assorted mutt)

Looking forward to hearing more about your nice-to-haves there!

As you can tell by my photo I use my tailgate to cook off of too.

Here are the poles, I got four in total.
KOMCLUB Telescoping Tent Poles Tarp Poles Adjustable Stainless Steel Camping Tarp Pole for Outdoor Canopy Awning Rain Shelter-94.5 in Set of 2 https://a.co/d/370pMfb

This is the Tarp I use with it.
OneTigris Tent Tarp Footprint 94"x94", Large Size, Waterproof Lightweight Multifunctional Camping Tarp Beach Blanket for Camping Hiking Backpacking https://a.co/d/aovAWk1

I have the Mr. Buddy Big Buddy heater. Also have a fan like for it that attaches to it and moves the heat around real good. Make sure to get a filter for any propane heater. I use a 10lbs tank but use it on low just to take the edge off in the cold nights while changing into sleep clothes. I can for cold nights on low go about 50 hours on that tank.

I have a -10f sleeping bag for the cold, which in reality is comfortable to around 15-20f degrees.

On the warmer days, plus for white noise, I have this little fan, and it is impressive for the size and cost.

Looks good!

I would probably have to spend some loot for some cover that didn't involve 100 tie downs in different directions though 🤣

...and then tarp outwards from that as my TOC (Tactical Operations Center). But this is my kind of camping. Simple. Not a lot of money needs to be spent to do it.

Check out fiberglass rebar at local building supply. See attached for Lowe's #3 (3/8") or can get #4 if you want stronger.

To be fair!!!!! My gorilla tarp was only anchored in the 4 corners, 1.5 of which were to the maverick

The rest of the wires were from the fly / the other tarp everyone else wanted over the garden tent

Though, it sounds like what you do is precisely where I want to end up with mine! Would love to see some pics of your setup!

Oh that is so smart actually, thank you! I will have to check that out. I'm sure with some mild plumbing supplies and a few sticks of that stuff that you could make a very modular and height adjustable setup!

You may want to wrap or paint it.

If you are wanting a center pole without a grommet, you could use one of the fiberglass poles with frisbee, I would use two to make it ridged, attached to the top of the pole. The frisbees would keep from cutting or ripping the tarp.
