1. Yep, that’s the explanation
2. Agreed. I’d suggest the LED upgrade though.
3. Same it looks pretty nice
4. I bought a kit but I couldn’t get it to fit right. I’ll probably throw a layer of plastidip on it some time
5. I waxed it! I just have a little electric buffing pad that works great.
I also bought a third brake light replacement kit but couldn't get the cable to pull out enough to replace it, I didnt want to break anything and I definitely don't want to drop the headliner as I suspect I would never be able to get it back up the way it was before. Maybe I will tint it.

That’s strange. They were built with replacement in mind. Mine definitely has a few inches to play with.

Hey everyone! I thought I'd show off my Maverick and provide links to everything I've added or changed since I bought it. I've included some commentary on each part. Let me know if you have questions. Enjoy!

Note: Amazon links don't seem to work here so view the Reddit post:

Here's the photo album:

Here's the mod list:

Engine Bay
  1. Redline Tuning Hood QuickLIFT PLUS - https://www.redlinetuning.com/2021-Ford-Maverick-Hood-QuickLIFT-PLUS-p/21-11041-02.htm - Great addition to the truck, but use an additional rubber and metal washer beneath the window washer fluid reservoir; you'll strip out the plastic of the reservoir otherwise.
  2. RaceChip GTS Tuning Kit - https://www.racechip.us/shop/ford/maverick-from-2021/2-0t-ecoboost-1999ccm-250hp-183kw-380lb-ft.html - Night and day difference in responsiveness. An absolute hands down recommendation. Installation includes a manual but it does not match the Maverick engine. Use this thread as a reference: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...ggyback-tune-released-for-2022-maverick.5560/
  3. Boomba Racing Turbo Blow-Off Valve (BOV) - https://www.boombaracing.com/bov-adapters/maverick - Great addition if you like hearing the turbo sound. Installation was difficult for me but if you read the following referenced thread with my review, you will be fine: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...t-blow-off-valve-adaptor-now-available.18009/
  4. K&N Drop-in Air Filter - https://www.pandamotorworks.com/col...s/k-n-replacement-drop-in-air-filter-maverick - You may find these cheaper on Amazon. Increased the responsiveness of the truck and it's easy to wash and maintain. Much cheaper than a full intake mod.
Interior Mods
  1. Blackout Vinyl for Steering Wheel Logo - https://www.etsy.com/listing/791530087/ford-steering-wheel-air-bag-overlay?ref=yr_purchases - The blue oval just doesn't match with my look.
  2. Magsafe iPhone Cubby Mount - https://www.etsy.com/shop/AAAPrintX - Currently not for sale, but check the image album. Locks on securely and leaves enough room for a pair of sunglasses. Highly recommend when it's available from this shop again.
  3. Grocery Bag Holder - https://www.etsy.com/listing/1170284629/fits-grocery-bag-holder-2022-ford - Clips in easily to keep your grocery hauler hauling without spillage.
  4. Dog Food/Water Bowl - https://www.etsy.com/listing/1156328940/fits-bowldog-bowl-2022-ford-maverick - Runner up. Perfect for hungry/thirsty dogs (when not moving).
  5. CarPlayBox Wireless CarPlay - - Works 90% of the time but sometimes requires unplugging and replugging. Can be annoying because it changes your WiFi network so if you're in your house and it's still getting power, you'll need to switch back over to your actual WiFi network.
  6. Cable for CarPlay Box - - See photos; this is a very minimal cable that works just fine. Helps you hide the cabling.
  7. Dash Cam and Hardwire Kit - Roav (Anker) dashcam (Just search for whatever dashcam you want) with this hardwire kit: - Why a dashcam? Watch this and then buy one: ; In order to get the trim off, use this: and follow this video:
  8. Frameless Homelink Mirror - - I didn't want to wire a Homelink mirror in, so I used this self-contained battery powered frameless mirror. It installs with a Torx 20 and takes about 5 minutes. Massive difference in visibility.
  9. Center Console Organizer - - Drops right in. The Mav has an unusually small and deep console so this helps significantly.
  10. Compact USB Charger - - Wanted a few extra ports just in case. This is about the smallest on the market but you'll be unable to shut the cover after putting this in. The light is the same color as the accent lighting.
  11. 4KNINES Seat Cover - - Much cheaper here than on Ford's parts. Works great and fits great. See photo album.
  12. Dog Seat Belts - - Do not leave your dogs without a seatbelt. Google it for more information. Trust me, these are cheap and could help in an accident.

Bed Mods
  1. Cargo Tie Downs - - Very cheap and sturdy. I installed them into every compatible screw area, even the tailgate (you never know). See album.
  2. Bolts for Cargo Tie Downs - - This fits most of the heavy duty screw holes in the Maverick for using the tie downs.
  3. Rota-Light - - Must have product in addition to the standard and TouchLink lights. Strong magnetic base with an adjustable angle. Good to have just in case and really useful in general.
  4. Ford Bed Cargo Net - https://accessories.ford.com/products/maverick-2022-vertical-bed-net - Great for grocery hauling. Easy to adjust and keeps things from sliding around.
  5. Ford Swing Out Tool Box - https://accessories.ford.com/products/undercover-right-hand-side-pivot-storage-box - Do NOT buy the driver side as it will interfere with the standard cargo light access. This will swing out and hit the support cables. Somewhat annoying but convenient. DO NOT BUY THIS AT ALL if you have the Ford soft tonneau -- you cannot pull down the tonneau latches without first moving it. Super pain in the ass!
  6. Ford Tailgate Assist - https://accessories.ford.com/products/tailgate-assist - You can find this cheaper on Amazon (30 bucks usually). This was a massive pain in the ass to install. Uses a Torx 50 socket that is apparently torqued to a million lbs (at least on mine). I used an impact wrench to finally break it free. Great upgrade though. Removes the second bottle opener. See number 1 as a quick fix.
  7. TouchLink Lights - https://accessories.ford.com/produc...-by-lumen-capacitive-touch-led-lamps-set-of-2 - Not honestly that worth it. Recommend the Rota-Light in item 3 and then getting an LED kit.
Exterior Mods
  1. Lund AeroSkin Smoke Hood Protector - https://accessories.ford.com/products/maverick-2022-lund-aeroskin-smoke-hood-protector - Looks pretty good, but try to find one that physically raises off the hood for more protection.
  2. Ford All-Weather Mats - https://accessories.ford.com/products/maverick-crew-cab-2022-gas-all-weather-floor-liner-tray-set - These are pretty nice but others have a lot better coverage so I'd recommend Weathertech or another brand.
  3. Lund Wind Deflectors - https://accessories.ford.com/products/smoke-low-profile-side-window-deflectors - I'd buy an aftermarket set because these are kind of sized wrong. The rear windows go past the windows. I think Weathertech will make some better ones.
  4. Ford Bushwacker Fender Flares - https://accessories.ford.com/produc...ocket-style-textured-black-satin-fender-flare - I really like the look of these; you can't use mud flaps with them but do NOT use the Ford mudflaps as they gouge the paint off. You'll want bigger tires and/or a lift if you get these as the 235R65/17's look comically undersized.
  5. Putco Door Sill Plates - https://accessories.ford.com/products/black-platinum-4pc-door-sill-plates-kit - These are expensive, but they are actually metal instead of a decal like most of the aftermarket ones. I bump into the door sills easily on this truck so I wanted them.
  6. LasFit LED Lights - https://www.lasfit.com/products/ford-maverick-led-bulbs - Absolutely awesome upgrade and easy to do (Youtube install videos). Night and day difference between the stock lights. To remove the side marker lights, use the trim remover in Interior #7 -- the paint will scratch easily. Install some painter's tape too. The Lariat does not have switchback and only can do the solid amber blinkers. All of the blinker lights have resistors to prevent hyperflash.
  7. Mirror Extenders - - The mirrors are really tiny and it's hard to see good angles, especially if towing. These are cheap and easy options.
  8. AWD Badge - - The AWD badge is cheap shiny chrome plastic. I upgraded to this metal one. Looks great. See album.
  9. Tow Hitch Shackle - - As I don't have an FX4, I used this as my option when/if I get stuck in the snow or mud. It's a little loose so installed padding between it and the tow hitch.
  10. Black Maverick Letters - - Plenty of different options out there, but I just wanted matte black. See album.
  11. American Flag - - Had to jazz it up a little bit. See album.
  12. Stubby Jr Antenna - https://www.amazon.com/CravenSpeed-Stubby-Antenna-Ranger-2019-2020 - Hated the original antenna being so obvious. This works just fine and I have no problems with reception but your results may vary.
  13. Luxe Shield License Plate Frame - - Good quality frame that subdues a bright license plate.
  14. Black Frame Screws - - The Luxe frame comes with bright sliver screws. This fixes that.
  15. Ford Blackout Emblem - https://www.etsy.com/listing/1157794281/ford-maverick-2022-emblem-overlay-badge - Blacks out the front and back emblems. Entire black out logos are available but require a decent amount of disassembly. Plastidip also works great.
  16. Marker Smoke Kit - https://www.ebay.com/itm/175294457633 - The markers are obnoxiously orange against some colors. I used a smoke kit. With the LasFit LEDs, they are still brighter than the stock bulbs.
  17. Falken Wildpeak AT3W Tires 255R65/17 - https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Falken&tireModel=WildPeak+A/T3W&partnum=565TR7WPAT3WXL - Largest tire possible without scraping. Fits stock wheels easily. Great for winter and mud. DiscountTire will match TireRack (same company). Will also accept military discounts (5%). Not pictured: installing 30mm wheel spacers next weekend to be flush with the fender flares.
  18. Ford Cabin Spoiler - https://accessories.ford.com/products/satin-black-rear-cab-spoiler - If you buy a Maverick, you get 42000 Ford points (200 dollars). Might as well have some fun with it. I like the look.
  19. Ford Soft Tonneau - https://accessories.ford.com/products/tonneau-cover - Came with the First Edition, but I'd recommend a flat or flush tonneau. Because it doesn't roll, you might as well get a hard one. The latch mechanism is sort of annoying too. As a plus, it has an embossed Ford logo.
Other Things
  1. 303 Automotive Protectant - - This gets rid of the awful scuffs that happen just from existing on the plastic components of the Mav. It also protects it against future scuffing.
  2. OBD Link Cable - - Used with the app ForScan. I used this to disable Double Honk when exiting a cabin with keys while running, and to enable all of the FX4 drive modes and off-road screens. See this forum to have some fun: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/forums/forscan-programmers-tuners-coders.78/

Thanks for this. I have a lot to go through! There are many things you've already done that I mean to.

Kinda of a silly, clueless thing to say. A "real truck"? The Maverick is a "real" truck. Your interpretation of a "real" truck sounds like it may have been impressed upon you at some point and it became.... your interpretation. Not everyone buys the same things for the same reasons. I still have both of my F150s, my 2016 crew cab and my 2021 single cab. All are "real" trucks. You guys need to stop with that silly rhetoric. Smh
Is an F 150 a real truck to someone owning a Freightliner?

No idea. I'm not in the head of "someone owning Freighliner". That would be speculation as to what they think.

To me they are all trucks.

Have to drop the headliner a bit because of where Ford put the connector that you need to disconnect the 3rd brake light from. I recently installed an oem Raptor 3rd brake light in my Lariat....really no way around it.

Seems to me to be an awful lot of work to replace a light that is perfectly fine from the factory. Of course I'm not in the head of the folks that make the change ;)

I just dropped in the Lasfit LEDs to the stock light bar. It took make 2 minutes and required none of this…

God, there really is no reaching it without pulling the headliner down. I know the two clips on either side of the third brake light but where are the others located to get it pulled down enough? I gently tried to pry around the edges and couldn't find the exact locations, I didn't want to pull too hard and mess the headliner up.

Make sure you REALLY like your new 3rd brake light before doing this upgrade. Lol. Since nearly everything I/we do is for research of new wiring solutions for the business, it was a no Brainer for me. To do this successfully and to prevent damage to the headliner, I removed both B and both C pillars. Doing this allows you to drop the headliner like in my pic without worry of creasing it. While I had the C pillars down I replaced the factory 4" speakers with high end Focals. Will replace the front doors and all 3 on the dash as I get there. Dropping the headliner is a bit easier IF you don't have the rear slider because you won't have that upper window track that you would need to get the headliner over.
Let me know if I can assist in any way

Yeah, that sounds like a lot, I really don't like the look of the factory light but I 100% would crease the headliner trying to get it down. I guess I will just tint it instead and when I get around to replacing the rear speakers in a year or so I will install the other brake light.

Maybe when I am done with school for the semester I will try to make some sort of adapter that plugs into the existing bulb sockets that will plug into the led brake light plug. Not the best solution but would be less destructive for me.

Thanks for the help!
