Clever and affordable project. For those who prefer a tonneau cover, this box seems much more secure if one wanted to put tools in it. Personally I’d have probably mounted it on the other side, just to balance the load opposite the driver. Looks great. Well done.

Thanks. It has been useful since I put it in. Mostly gets filled with groceries weekly, sometimes items when we are out of town shopping, empty except for that.

On the side preference. When you are approaching or exiting the truck it is on the driver's side most of the time. If I had intended to have stuff in the box all the time I would have mounted it on the passenger's side.

The box itself is deceptively light for size. It is really thin aluminum and probably weighs less than 12lbs empty.
