I was reading about the 2018 focus ST- It has a 2.0 Ecoboost (Non-MPC). It has 252 HP, front wheel drive, weighs 3200 lbs and goes 0-60 in ~6.2 sec. Lobo has 250 HP, all wheel drive, weighs 3800 lbs and goes 0-60 in ~6.2 sec.

So, how can a truck that weighs 600lbs more have the essentially the same 0-60 time:

is it the transmission, auto versus manual?
is it the AWD versus FWD?
is it the final gear ratio?
or does the MPC Ecoboost make more than 250HP?

I would like to see a dyno run of the MPC

As an ex-FoST owner:

6MT is likely slower than the Auto 8 speed. (Esp if you don't Flat Foot Shift the manual..)
FWD is another part of the equation. There are traction issues from 0 on the FoST.

Mav is quick from 0-45 or 50 mph.
But FoST is quicker from ~30-75+.. And the gap widens as speeds increase. (I think the Maverick has to displace too much air due to its size/shape.)
The FoST is great from a Roll, not from a Dig.
The FoST is quite fuel efficient too, due to efficient FWD and Manual trans (No torque converter wasting energy.), and due to size and weight.

The overall "driving experience" of the FoST (with the 6 MT) is far superior, regardless what 0-60 says, especially once you have to go around a corner.
But the practicality and ease of the Maverick, especially for moving things (and even people) around is superior. While still being sorta fuel-efficient (esp in a Hybrid).

Would be an interesting mod for someone to put a 6 MT into a Maverick, just because....

Wow, couldn't have said it better myself! I agree on all points.

I remember putting an upgraded Rear Motor Mount on mine, which was supposed to help with the wheel-hop when launching from a dig. But agreed, that car was better from a rolling launch.

Love my Maverick too, but I do miss the FoST 😞

I'm sure awd helps the 0-60 times. Honestly it feels like my tremor is just as fast as my focus ST was, but like rotax said no way it could ever keep up with the ST 0-100.

I miss my FoST (6MT mostly) when I want to just go out for a fun "drive" or "cruise" with no goal other than to enjoy the drive.

I also ran a rear engine mount.
Along with better tires.
And a tune that could ignition/fuel-cut on tire slip.
Which all make it much better from a stop light.
But, its still not the purpose of the FoST imo, and I learned that 0-60 numbers were NOT all that important to an enjoyable driving experience.

0-60 numbers primary purpose now seems to be to WOW and sell/market a car to those that are going in straight lines.
I used to do some drag racing when I was a kid. (in a RWD V8 S10, so I'm familiar with managing wheel slip under hard accel. lol In this case, big wide chonky tires helped, but still would burn down a set of rears if you let it..)
But now I find going around corners is a lot more fun. :)

The unibody Mav is really close..
It just needs a PROPER ST/RS model, not this silly Lobo wanna-be.

Oh yeah, I miss the 6MT as well. And I had a lot of fun carving freeway ramps/loops and country roads around me. Car felt like it was on rails, always. I also enjoy going around corners more than just doing digs all the time 😂

I sold the FoST to buy the Mav. It was the right car, but wrong time, for me. Needed something with a bed and that I could tow with. And I got the Mav on a steal from the dealer due to my A-plan and 0% APR (thanks to the Rona LOL), so it just made a lot of sense financially. Would love to pick up another FoST, or even an RS, eventually. Someday!
