i just returned from the local Ford dealer who sold me my 2023 Maverick 4x4 2.0. The AC had quit, and I have a new rodent caused hole in the air intake accordion hose, as well as a partially chewed through hose on the return line to the coolant reservoir. EXPENSIVE PARTS! The two hoses would be $480, but I decided to repair them myself. Interestingly, the AC drive belt is$9.80 - yes, from Ford! :) The service manager suggested a spray mouse deterrent and the special mouse tape the Honda makes. (available on Amazon)

: The tape is designed in layers with mini-capsules of capsicum chili pepper extract inside the tape that bursts open when chewed on by rodents.

Tape is currently $44 on Amazon

Well, to corrupt a saying, there's no kill like overkill! Picture will show the spray from Tractor S that I used, the glued on rubber snakes, the block of mouse bait/poison, and the fix of the accordion pleated part. It turns out that that part is all one piece, and goes over to where the air tubes etc. are. $460 if memory serves. The pleats were glued together with 3M weatherstrip adhesive, and then overcoated with Super Black Silicone. Ugly, maybe, but hey, think $400 and "beauty is in the wallet of the beholder!"

I've been having the same problem with rodents nesting on top of my engine. What worked for me is leaving the hood up overnight. It seems the rodents want a nice enclosed space that seems safe to them. Kind of a pain in the butt, but it seems to have solved the problem.

Rubber snakes are available on amazon... packet of smaller ones, or single larger snake.

Yeah that's probably easier than waiting for the store to catch fire so I can run in and just grab them too.

I stopped rats from eating my 2020 F150 wiring by parking at night over (4) 12 volt tractor LED flood lights. Two pointing at the front inside wheel wells. One pointing at the fuel tank. One pointing at the flywheel area. The lights are on a timer to run from dusk to dawn. The LEDs stopped the rats the first night and for the past 5 years zero rat damage. After about 6 months of not seeing a single rat on the game camera overnight I was happy with the LED lights. Before the LEDs I had rats on the game camera nightly. FYI - Parked a 1999 F350 & 2010 F150 in the same spot for 20 years and rats only showed up to eat the 2020 F150 wiring and foam covers on the fuel injector rails. Thanks Ford for putting rat food in my $50K 2020 F150...!
