We used to have a Dihatsu at work. It was a little stick shift looked like that red truck. We took the governor off so it would go faster on the street. It was a small spray truck for landscapes for the parks department.

Interesting discussion. Back in my youth (60s and 70s) I had a used 57 Ranchero with a 312 cu in motor and triple 2barrel carbs, a used 59 Ranchero with a 390 ci in motor and 4-spead trans, and a used 69 Ranchero with a 352 cu in motor. Really liked the concept of a 2dr car-based performance truck. In 1999 I bought a Ford Lightning SVT. I really liked the concept of a high-performance 2dr truck that also handled well. In 2004 I tried to convince my wife she needed a 4dr Subaru Baja with turbo as her next “car” with no success! A Lightning and a Baja would have been a perfect family combination for me at the time. In 2019 I bought a 4dr Honda Ridgeline because it was the best combination of suspension/handling/awd in a truck format. Last week I bought a new 2025 Maverick Lobo to replace my Ridgeline because it best met my lifelong search for the perfect combination of car/truck features in one vehicle today. In reality there is no right or wrong answer to the 4 door/ext cab/2 door/car-based/truck-based controversy only what works in total for the individual and is available at the time.
