I've had two Maverick lariats, and it's same. The mic is hot garbage and the mounting location is not great. It would have been a lot better to put it in the center.

Previous discussion where the guy pulled it out and cleaned it. I honestly doubt that helped very much. https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/noisy-car-phone.6512/

I see in that thread that it has a molex connector so you would have to splice that onto anything you replace it with, unless there is another one used by Ford that comes with this connector and compatible. If someone works in a Ford parts dept and wants to research the part number and then see if it's different than other mics (say like a F-150 Platinum) we could possibly replace it with something better without splicing.

Another issue is that most of things you would splice into that connector are cheap also. I wouldn't expect much from a $7 handsfree mic found on Amazon...

I reviewed the other thread on this and I'm curious if just putting some foam on the mic would help. Because it's in the pillar I think I will pull it out and put it on the mic instead of just putting some on the plastic grille you can see. I think there could be some noise in the pillar itself.

Yes, those are workarounds. If you want to use the truck as designed including the steering wheel button for voice assistant, you need a working wired mic.

The mic sucks!
It's sad as this is my main commuter vehicle and am constantly on the phone to handle business to and from my office,
I own three other late model Ford products that all work great!
I have a 2023 F-450 Platinum on order and awaiting a build date.
If the mic was this poor in a $100k plus window sticker truck, I would loose my mind.
In the Maverick, I sadly kind of except it even though it's BS
It's like the shitty left over Ranger emblem on the tailgate, it ruins the modern aesthetics of the truck and looks so out of place.

I cannot understand why they put the microphone on the pillar near the window. My Fiesta, Focus and Escape all had the mic in the center by the map lights away from the window. The Maverick has the worst buffeting when the window is open than any other vehicle I've ever owned.

I got so sick of mine that I replaced it by splicing in a better mic. https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/replaced-microphone-quality-is-better.30396/

It was a pretty radical approach but it worked. It's clear now but the gain could be improved, I' believe you can do that with Android with an app, but it's not in the normal settings.

I did see multiple part numbers for escape and Bronco sport mics so you could try one of those. No idea if those parts use the same connector but the pictures of them look like the same size round plastic grille.

The main reason I didn't try the other parts is that they're 30-50$ and it would be a pain to try to return or resell anything that didn't work.
