Maverick's first paint scratch: From its wiper blades

Did the same exact thing. Had been good about it up till then, but that particular morning I was leaving really early. Was pitch black dark, and we didn't get the ice like we were supposed to, so nothing to clear. So jumped right in, forgot they were up, and couldn't see them in front of me. Gave me a good scare when they crashed down, thankful I ScotchGuard-ed the seats.

If you are afraid of wipers freezing, wrap plastic shopping bags around the blades and tuck them down. Many vehicles do not permit raised wipers - if you've had ones that do, well great. But it is not a flawed design or a defect in the Maverick.
Although the manual doesn't mention it like it does about not raising them, don't hit you hand with a hammer. Your hand was not designed to withstand the blow.
Have lived in snow and cold all my life, so I understand how to cope with ice, ice storms, snow, deep freezing temperatures.

Mine was on 3rd.truck wash, went to move truck up a little to finish dressing on tires, and it diffently wakes you up , and also gets it to where you never do that again. We Hope.

I've never understood why this is done when it will make the spring weak (stretch) in the arm.

Grew up in the snowbelt as well and we used the plastic cover on the windshield (ends tucked in the doors). However, we always put the wipers down on the cover to help hold it in place from the wind.......
